A couple of years ago (the last time I really looked) the huge advantage of Stoptech was the price of replacement rotors. AP or Brembo rotors for their big brake kits cost $500 each and up, and I'm sure they're no cheaper now with the weak dollar.

Eric I currently have the stock brake system on my 993, was looking at going with Big Reds From Porsche, in my investigation of: Porsche Big Reds, Brembo Big Brakes, and then StopTech. I am in need of some additional information from People like yourself on the Stoptech Brakes. So I am looking for opinions since I do not see any Porsches in my neck of the woods that run anything other than Porsche Big Reds or Brembo's. I agree the stock brakes are great but I am looking for a little more. I have had lots of experiance with Brembo's (have them on my Harley) they run cooler than the stock setup and can bring down my Harley to a full stop in about 2/3 the distance the stock ones can.. Therefore I did some compairsion shopping and found out the Brembo's run about $6100.00 + installation, Stoptech is about $5100.00 + installation, Stock Porsche Big Reds Fall somewhere inbetween. Now its just a decision between Brembo and Stoptech.

Pan58, buy some big reds or yellows used....look to Oklahoma Foreign, LAPD, Parts Heaven. Think you'll find price about 1/2 of new. Shop a bit and you'll find what you want even if its from a RL person or Pelican or even Ebay.
Best of luck.

Stoptech does have a good product line, they are available to fit a wide variety of cars for which there is no other viable bbk, but they are certainly no better or worse than oem Brembo for our cars.
The Stoptech 355/332 kit is way more than our cars need, even the GT2EVO didn't use that much rear brake.
A logical strictly bolt on kit for a 993 is the oem Brembo(oems are much stronger than the aftermarket Brembos because of the way Porsche specs them) 993RS/tt front on 322x32 993tt rotors and 993RS rear on 322x28 RS/tt rotors, second choice would be rear 993tt calipers on the same rotors.
You can even source aftermarket 330x32 slotted or plain fronts if you don't want holey rotors

Purely anecdotal experience, but I have Brembo F50 front brakes on my car. Brembo was out of stock of slotted replacement rotors so I went with the equivalent Stoptech. I seem to be having a lot more pad transfer issues than I ever did with the Brembo Rotors. Of course there are a lot of variables including drilled vs. slotted rotors, different pads, my driving style is evolving, I am stopping the car more often with red hot brakes to get tire readings, etc. But my next rotors will be Brembo if nothing else for piece of mind. I have to wonder why Stoptech rotors are half the price of Brembos.

I put Stoptechs on my Audi, and have generally been happy with them. I have about 95k miles on them, for reference. There are some subtle pad fitment issues with them, but they stop very well. I put RS brakes on my 993, and they were great. I have never been in a car that stopped better. I cannot imagine that Stoptechs are any better ( I know it is apples and oranges comparing an Audi and a 993, but that is all that I have to contribute to the discussion) , and I never ran out of brakes with the RSs. RS rotors are half the price of Stoptechs. If I had it to do over again, I'd put RS brakes on in a heartbeat ( pagid blacks, btw).

Stoptech is a good brake, but it's not a monoblock, it's a multi piece caliper, so I don't see how it's a upgrade over our factory monoblock Brembos. Granted the rotors are a upgrade.
If I were to upgrade my brakes on the 993, I would get a set of Alcon's, there very, very stiff monoblocks, & have a really nice floating rotor. They usually save some weight. I had these on my Audi S4, & LOVED them! Better then any other aftermarket kit I have put on a car, but they were quite a bit more then other kits out there.
