Default Iris 993 thread

I'll do my best to catalogue the tear down and build up and update the thread periodically - with pics .

Here's what's been done in the past week - my wife is about to kill me for living in the garage when I'm not at work (I'm trying to make it for Mosport on thursday):

wheels, calipers, rear rotors off
wheel liners & rocker covers off
window washing system - gone
trunk liner & bits - gone
interior including center console, lower dash panel - gone
stereo and speakers - gone
all OEM seatbelts - gone
rear wiper - gone
window seals off
DAS bar out
all lights out
full quasi-Andreas style clean & buff - probably lost 20lbs in crap off the car
Odyssey 925 battery and Rennline holder in

Today's list:

Rennsport chip
Rennline accelerator pedal
change headlight lenses
RS bypass pipe (b-bye blower...)
Perfect Power strut bar
Supercups
new brake pads
new rear rotors
Momo Mod 07 s/w
DAS bar back in
Racetech seats & 6 pt. harnesses
all liners/rocker bits back on

Still to do:

New window seals
Tail lights
RS 2-piece short shifter
New cowl-fender and door handle seals
Finish removing all adhesive and foam residue from interior
RS door panels & hardware
OEM airbox and RS tail intake trumpet
DACH x-over 200 cell cat pipes
MY02s with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups
Rennline track mats
Walrod bushings
Remove headlight washers & plumbing
Reverse upper left front strut mount/camber plate (was installed backwards )

Pending (short term):

Since the left hood support beam was twisted, I figured what the hell, and ordered a CF hood from Mike Shaw. While I was at it, I figured what the hell (again) and ordered a CF engine lid as well. I should have these clear coated and ready to install sometime in July.

Pending (winter project):

Right front cowl at the base of the windshield needs to be cut out (rust).
Crappy bondo repair of the front lower tub beam (forward trunk) needs to be fixed properly. Thankfully this is minor and the rest of the tub is straight and incident free .
Euro-ize the front & rear bumpers.

Halfway through last week :

Hey Matt, if you shave all this weight off the car, how am I supposed to keep up with you at Mosport ? I'd better start a diet right now

Good luck with the project. And oh yeah, +1000 on the pics. (I'm very amused by shiny objects!)

Tim.

Beer break....

After lots of polishing compound, a shiny object for Tim:

Litronics still to go (not enough patience today to deconstruct the wiring)....

Less junk, more room.... OEM airbox still pending:

Supercups...!

For Andreas (probably not up to standards ):

Matt, you're very ambitious for Sunday afternoon....keep up the good work! If I were there, I could help you(get beer that is!). Oh great you mentioned that four letter word. Must make a quick trip to a certain store in the 993 between your posts. Game on!

I'm out of "while I'm at it" budget for now, but those are beautiful (and well priced)...

Stealth - end goal is a good track appliance.
