Default '95 Brake Reservoir Overflow Tube...

There's an old archived post that describes the proper tube to clamp off prior to flushing brakes on a '95, but unfortunately the picture is no longer hosted.

My '95 apparently has the overflow tube (see pic attached) but it seems to be made of a fairly hard plastic. Is this the correct tube to clamp off? Before I put my vice grips to it, I want to make sure it's not going to get crushed.

Thanks in advance...

I wonder if the Carrera & C4 reservoirs are different? The overflow pipe on mine (hard plastic) wound its way around the reservoir before continuing along the inner wall of the body shell.

One of the first things I changed was to order the new-style vented cap and associated bits to clamps off the vent fitting.

Yes, it is the correct tube. You cramp it at the soft rubber hose part.

Yes, for chrissakes, don't attempt to clamp the metal tube. It will likely never recover! The rubber section that Robin mentions is about 1-1/2" aft of your red arrow.

The tube dumps copius amounts of "extra" brake fluid at $12 a liter onto the garage floor right behind the LF tire.

It does nothing except complicate fluid changes for the uninitiated. Near as I can tell.

Yup, I replaced the orig cap (mine is a 95 C2) with the newer vented cap, which IIRC (long time ago) also came with a small rubber cap to fit over the overflow nipple on the reservoir. Pick these bits up: cheap and makes brake bleeds that much easier.
