Default 993cup vs RSR

hi guys,
im interested in learning more about 993 race cars
What exactly is different about the 993RSR vs the normal 993 cup?
How stressed are the motors and are they crazy to maintain by a normal person (e.g. dont have my own shop)
thanks
=r

good post for the racing forum, but I do know that an RSR is a whole different ball game in maintenance. Also, steppping up to the RSR would really depend on ones driving level/ability/skills. The RSR is superior, however I have read on this forum that you have to be a pretty advanced driver to get the performace edge and times over the cup.

Im sure someone else could chime in here with some good answers,
but I am pretty sure the rebuild on the RSR motor is exponentially more than the cup.

Chris Cervelli regularly beats cars two classes higher (GT1R) in his RSR, as well as GTC3 cup cars.

PM "Premier Motorsp" for info on the differences between the two types of 993's or ask on the racing board.

993 Cup is a 993 frame/chassis with a welded factory cage and is basically a lighter weight 993RS- it's based on a street car. car is steel with some aluminum parts. probably weighs around 2800lbs give or take.

993RSR is a more like a tube frame weighing 2350 or 2400 lbs. car has mostly fiberglass, carbon and aluminum panels/bodywork. They use much wider tires in the front than the cup/RS. Rebuilds of drivetrain are frequent and as K964 says...bring your amex black card. oh and it will probably be faster than just about all the 996 GT3 cup cars until 2003 or so.

993 cup is much lighter than 2800lbs, more like 2500. The RSCS is 2800lbs.
The 993RSR is not a tube frame but some did use the widebody chassis from the GT2 EVO.

You guys need to do a simple google search instead of spewing misinformation.

There are probably 11 better ways to say that (only an estimate, I will google later) and you chose the low road. Nice!

Yes, or, at a minimum throttle back on the attitude.
Social skills are pretty neat.

I need to go have a good cry now...

That is what I get for showing up on this board... Either people here don't care or don't want to know an accurate answer.

Hmm. No. The info was great! I live to learn. It was the delivery that was over the top, IMO.
