Sorry for your situation but glad you are passing it on.

I just hope the thread I started saves others from a similar situation.

Nice work, AOW. We've got one or two of those here on the 993 board . . . and I may "out" one of them shortly.

I simply cannot understand why it is hard for people to send an email or PM to say, "Hey, sorry, I changed my mind." 100%, class A tools.

Chris, people like you are never a worry. Oh, what "second" check . . . ??

For the newbies, the Rennlist thing to do is, if you're selling, to send the item before you get payment to the Rennlister. I will say that if I don't know you, I will wait until payment has been received. However, if you have posted more than two dozen or so times and you are a regular member, I trust that you will take care of me. That implicit faith is what Rennlist is all about. Similarly, if I say I'm going to buy something, I almost always complete the transaction. And, if I don't want the item, I will have the courtesy to let the seller know. It's called common decency.

The transaction where I first experienced this was with Robin Sun. I bought his RSR mufflers and, like the gentleman that he is, he sent them to me before he received any payment. He wasn't the only one to operate this way. When the next few Rennlisters sent me the items of interest before I had a chance to send a check, I knew that I was, in some way, a trusted member of the community. It was a good feeling.

^^that is a very great thing about rennlist. This is the first I'm hearing about the practice, but it really says something about the community. I can't name another internet forum where if this practice took place you wouldn't get ripped off. It makes me very proud and honored to be a member (soon hopefully!) of a community like this.

Andreas,

Sucks that you had to lose out on the boxes, even though it's chump change you still went out of your way for the chump. It's a good thing you didn't send them out in good faith.

Mark,

Dude, it's a good thing this guy didn't come accross your mega for sale ads you had up last week!

Good you didn't suffer any loss and caught the guy on time.

My apologies for posting this, it's another wheel story and can cost hours of your time!:

Rennlist seems to be a very different habitat than the BMW/MINI forums that I frequent. I've always been more comfortable receiving payment - always through paypal - and then shipping out my items, after being near-screwed-over on a couple occasions. From what I've gathered, Rennlist seems to be a much more trusting environment than others, and with the caliber of cars and owners here, I would only expect so. Of course, there are always exceptions, and Mr. Lackner seems to be a perfect example of such.

Exactly!

Jeff (allill) just bought some wheels spacers from me and I realized I didn't send them off before he paid me... I actually felt kinda guilty
Then again, I didn't have his address until he sent the paypal $... but I didn't ask him for it either.

Anyhow, my point is, that is how other transactions have gone here when I have bought from RL folks. The item and funds cross paths every time. It's great.

BTW Jeff, the shipping dept (wife) will have them out today. We are so close it should be a day to you. If they don't work I'll take them back, of course... actually, that is how we shoulda started this whole thing. Try them first. Oh well.
