WTB: 993 Race Car
I'm tired of beating my 964 around the track. I'm seriously considering "upgrading" to a 993 race car.
I'm looking for something with a full cage, fuel cell, etc. Ideally something still legal for a PCA stock class. I don't think I want to go hand-to-hand with the GT guys!
If you know of something I should take a look at,
drop me a line

You won't see too many stock cars with a fuel cell. I think the real money is in the cage and suspension and how dialed-in it all is. Having a winning history or, at the very least, a record of hitting the podium is a real plus, but no guarantee of anything. Also, even if the car never did well, it might be capable of much more with a better driver.
Good luck in your search.

I just checked out this monster. A bit much for a street car!
'96, black/tan, 15k miles, a 1/3 of that or so track use at Porsche Club and SCCA IT events. On the street only since '03. Squeaky clean title and carfax.
Riveted flares, 3.8 RS wing, built 3.8 motor, trans, exhaust, Moton suspension, Kinesis rims, etc. Had a full cage that has been removed and it does not have a fuel cell.
The owner is a friend who is busy beyond belief. I'm thinking about buying it and if not he may elect to have me sell it for him. No other details at this time until I can hash things out with him.

Actually, I assumed it was a 3.8. It may still be the stock 3.6. Will find out for sure as soon as possible.
I guess the flares would make it a no-go for the op anyway. Oh well... ought to be fun no matter what!

I found a sweet car here in Florida - the one 95FL993CAB PM'ed me about. It was in Orlando and I had it transported to Tampa for a PPI. To make a long story short, the owner and I haven't agreed on a final price (yet).
It started life as a stock 993. Then got a cage & RS bodywork. It's got moton suspension and fully adjustable sway bars. Big red brakes up front and OEM in the rear and wears BBS Motorsport wheels.
If you could say there's a "problem" with this car - It's that it's over-prepared for any stock racing class and under-prepared for GT class racing. Don't get me wrong - I'd love to own & race this car, but the rule book isn't in my favor. I could put fuel in it and have an absolute blast in an drivers education event or track day.
....still it's really sweet
Full Nascar style driver protection. The roll bars go through the firewall and connect to the front suspension points. Also note the "halo" racing seat.
100 liter fuel cell, moton's and camber plates

Terry,
That car looks great! How much is the owner asking, if you don't mind sharing?
Having the cage attached to the suspension points automatically puts you into the GT class, as does the stripped interior (if I'm seeing it correctly). The wing and big red brakes are easy enough to deal with, but would put you into prepared, as is.
One thing to consider is that PCA revamped the GT class rules and now use a Performance Index to classify cars. If I'm doing the calculations correctly, the car would be right smack in the middle of GT4 at a performance index of 707 ([2800lb weight/3.6L x 110HP/L] x 100=707. I'm not sure which cars run in GT4, but I'm guessing a stock engine with 2800lbs won't cut it too well. I don't really know.
Perhaps the neither fish nor fowl lineage could be reason for a price adjustment?

According to my calculations, it looks like the car would be in the middle of GTS-4 with NASA...and you could modify/tweak/lose weight all you want to get it in the top tier index of that class.
