Default center caps question

I'm in need of some information about Porsche center caps. I've got a set of Cup II wheels that I need to get a new set of center caps for. I talked to an on-line shop today and they told me the following:

the 993 Cup II caps are not interchangeable with any other cap (928, 944, etc)

they only come in plastic (at least the ones he had)

they only come in the style that you pop in, not the kind that are attached through the backside of the wheel (again, at least the ones he sold)

the silver with a black crest were $17 each

the silver with a colored crest were $52 each

Is this correct? Any suggestions on where to buy these? I've seen here that you shouldn't buy them through a Porsche dealer, as the price would be much higher.

Silver and blacks from my Cup IIs are interchangeable with the colored crests in my MY02s. They all pop in from the front. That's a decent price on the black ones but a little high on the colored ones. I found my set of four colored ones, used but very nice, from another 'Lister via ebay for $92. P/N 993.361.303.10

Just need to be patient.

I have a big garage sale that I'm planning on posting soon and was planning on selling a set of center caps. I have a set of four with the colored crests from my Cup wheels. They're in excellent condition. $100 plus shipping.

I've seen various types on eBay, some OEM some copies. Worth checking.

Hi, Doug,

PM sent back. Here is a photo of them. The color balance makes them look a bit pink, but I swear they are the original Cup wheel silver.

Here are some other options. A bit more money, but top quality. I had a set on my 19s, and they looked superb.

I would beg to differ. I have a set just like Mark in Baltimore has on my 02 wheels and on my daughters 944 phone dials, perfect fit.

Bobby,

Did you have the non-spinning spinners?

allill,
No, I didn't have the non-spinners. Not my taste, just another bearing to wear out, but for the "man who has everything", a nice addition?

I found that a gold, red and black paint pen, some clear spray lacquer, some masking tape, and some patience can turn a worn out set of colored caps to worth-putting-on-the-wheels for about $25. Sure they may not look as good as Mark's sale set, but that's what I'm putting on the 993 Cup wheels I just bought, then the caps from the twisties that I reserve for the odd track use will get the same treatment...

(next time I'll find some darker red paint pen, this is a bit pink-shaded but I know down the road they'll need touching up anyway)

Mark, had I seen yours before I might have jumped on them, but the pens are close enough for government work, just not up to Stuttgart standards... (but then the money I saved bought me a steering rack brace)
