the paint pen 'red' is a shade lighter and more pink than I'd like, but I think a few coats of clear will do the trick. These are from some Cup IIs I bought from a rennlister from Tampa a few weeks ago, when the Cup IIs go on the car the twists will get saved for track use (of course I could fix up the twists' caps as well)

...needs more tape!

Looks like a good DIY, do you have before photos?

they looked worse than this (these are the ones on my twists, some of the gold is left on these)

on the Cup II caps there was no gold left, and actually for those that like the silver crests all I'd have had to do was touch up the black and the red, but I wanted the full colour.

3rd clear coat is drying on the Cup caps, next week I'll do the twist caps, the key to the black spots was 'fine' tip on the paint pen, the normal tip on the red and gold worked ok.

Very nice. Are you thinking of spraying them with a clearcoat or something?

yes, just put 3 coats of clearcoat on them

these will be the 'track' center caps. The gold paint stick doesn't go on that smooth, next set I'll spray them gold, THEN do the black and red, then clear

Nice work. I wouldn't have thought the paint sticks would do such a good job. Out of curiosity - why didn't you take the crests off the center cap before painting. I've had mine off to match the silver to the wheel silver and it is easy to do so.
