Default Night Blue Metallic?

Hi guys!

Recently i bought a beautiful Carrera C2 Coupe, near flawless condition.15k miles, all stock. When i bought it, i really didn't care about the color shade.I just wanted to be blue.Well it turned out, that the car is a L39C Night Blue Metallic with Cashmere Beige/Black (Sunroof delete too!)

Researching a bit,i found that this color is quite uncommon. Here in Venezuela its hard to find other 993s,so i haven't had the chance to compare them live, with another similar shades of blue.

So,i was wondering what are your thoughts on Night Blue ??
Does anyone have the remote idea, how many L39C units where produced? How much rare factor does it have on it?.. ideas?

Last but not least,i know that a few Rennlisters have this painting on their 993... so any information, would be welcomed.

Thanks

Why would anybody want such an awful color . It's one of my favorites. Have you seen Ocean blue as well? It's a little more green wth some gold flecks. You might be able to search for "production by color" or something. I think it might go something like this: Black, Guards, Polar, Whites, Arctic, Arena, Aventurine, Midnight, Ocean, Iris, Speed Yellow, with the elusive Riviera Blue bringing up the rear. I'm sure I left some out, but this may be a starting point...

while you dont see this color every day, it is not a rare color on the 993. My coupe is Midnight Blue as well.

After my '83 SC got totalled in November, the local specialist reseller mentioned he was getting in a blue '95. I wanted a '95 because of the simpler O2 sensor layout, and pre-96 cars here get no sniff test (so XPipes are in my very near future), but when he said it was blue I thought ? uhhhhh ? blue ? until I saw it, midnight with cashmere... very elegant combination. I love it now.
I'm changing the wheels to Cup IIs and repainting the crests with paint pens (easy and cheap compared to purchase), and will save the twists for the odd track outing.
I thought I might get 18" BBS or Champion but the money is better spent on DACH Xpipes, modified mufflers, the RS strut brace I just put on, and the steering rack brace I just put on.

Great color combination you have there !

Thanks for the compliments!!
I love Blue . As for color combination,i always wanted a blue ext with beige int.I though that it always have been an elegant combination, sorta reminds me of Audi's.

As for seeing Oceans,i ve never seen them live.In fact, just Black & Silver P-cars. Guards Red,its even uncommon here! But i have seen them on the pics and i may say, that my fav blues for 993, are Maritime (shame thats theres only like 1 car with that color),Ocean & Riviera.I haven't taken pics of the whole car yet, because i am still looking a good landscape to shoot nice pictures on,and to detail it a bit.

I want to leave it stock, i ve been thinking on going with a 18" BBS RS GT on Silver, but ..they would end super expensive plus its really rough to bring them to Venezuela.Well, back on topic..

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...highlight=L39C

In that topic they refer to Midnight and Night as to separate colors.. is there any difference?? What i mean,is that it shouldn't be same.. hence they have different names.

To DB_NC_95C2, here are some pics i took of my Cup II , Hood Crest & Carrera badge . .Just in case you not sure yet.

I took them in the garage,so i guess the paint seems a little darker than it is. I forgot to tell its a ROW MY 94'

Midnight isn't very rare, at least not in the US. It's not as common as the silvers, black, and reds, but not rare either. It's a great color, if I may say so myself.

But i dont have Midnight.. I have code L39C which is called Night Blue, the million dollar question is it if they are oficially the same, and if you compare both Midnight & Night they look exactly the same.Thats what i was wondering,of course i know that Midnight is not an exotic color :P

Someone check the back of Adrian Streather's book - mine's down in the garage - I'm pretty sure it had L39C listed as midnight blue metallic. It's possible that the names were slightly different depending on which market the car was sold in.

I just saw a 996 Turbo yesterday that was midnight blue with the cognac (or somewhat darker)--Im a fan of that color combination--regardless of the model.

Just went and checked - Adrian Streather's book has paint code 39C (listed as L39C on the hood sticker) as being midnight blue. There is an asterisk denoting that it is a water-based paint. There is another code for midnight blue that is not water-based.
