Default oil change on a 95

Ok this is a newbie question and I hate myself for asking it. A 95 C2 one or two filters and how much should a dealer charge to change it. Thanks for any replies.

two filters...one behind the passenger side door and one on the forward-end of the engine. there is a great diy on p-car.com. Not hard to do.

Hello Mel,
2 is right have changed mine quite a few times. As a matter of fact will be changing it this weekend. If your close you can swing over to Tyler and I will change it for you on the lift. I have a extra filter you can have.

$163 last time I had it done but I think that is low from what I remember. This is from an indy also.

It is a 1 hours job, so whatever their hourly rate should be + parts and fluids. Of course not sure what the book calls for from the dealer.

Paid $250 in LA for an oil change, but they only changed one filter. I was very pissed off!

Do it yourself! Get the parts from sunset and the oil from Kragen.

I've only had one when I got my 95 a few months back... was around $250 w/ both filters. I need to get a new, low profile jack and do it myself next time.

there is absolutely no way I would pay someone to change the oil! Took me an hour the first time I did it using the DIY. No big deal at all, and I'm not the most mechanically inclinded person there is, thats for sure.

Do it yourself, enjoy the time spent with your car, and save some money to put towards mods while you're at it

Just did mine for the first time. You do need to invest in some jack stands, as the jacking point is very close to the oil drain point. I got one chack stand under and couldn't get the other, so I just kept the jack in place with the one jack stand...BIG mess.

The DIY they reference is www.p-car.com. Complete parts list too. Get the parts from Sunset Porsche unless you live in Oregon. Get some good jack stands. Make your own decision on the oil, but there is a very detailed thread here about how Mobil 1 might not be the right answer. I switched to Brad Penn. Get an adjustable filter wrench from Sears or where ever, and don't forget there is something like 10.5 qts of oil, so you need a bigger than average drain pan. I probably paid $100 in oil and filters, maybe a little less.

Next time will be lots easier.

Thanks guy for the replies. I need to get some jack stands and learn how to jack the car up without screwing anything up. Any suggestions.

Baron, thanks a lot brother for the offer. But from where i am I would blow more than $300 in gas.

This site is the best!! I've made some good friends and met some great people.

my shop is $200, with the price of oil/filters, etc I just get it done. Also I think its good business for the indy shop that always seems to be on the edge of shutting down but is always there when I have a problem......

Got it done for 99.00 last time. A local indy had a sale and forgot to exclude the Pcars
Next one will be done by me!

Dealer charged me $360. But, I got a Cayenne S loaner and had some fun with that. Other loaners are a Cayman S, Boxster, and a regular Cayenne. Hmmm, that's what you'd pay for a one day rental of these cars but the miles are extra. And the dealer makes me feel special too...

I just picked up the low profile jack. Need four stands next. I like wrenching on my cars when I have time.
