WTB: 993 C2S Vesuvius Metallic w/Aerokit
#17
If this is the same one that was advertised in Craigs list awhile back it has been for sale for a long time. Is it owned by a woman? If it is the one I am thinking about it is pretty rough for that price. There was also one available in the NY/NJ area about 1.5 years ago with less miles put had some funky electrical problems. good luck with the search

For sale 1 year ago by a woman in Cali.
I did not buy because of the factory non matching funky mirrors. It reminded me of a matchbox toy with mismatched paint.
Ohhh, but how beautiful wit big O's, polished wheels and factory CF wheel and shifter! C'mon and drool all over the porno.

I am concerned with the mileage on this one... price seems high for the mileage... you have the steering wheel and windshield to deal with. Interior, at least in the photos, looks a bit tired, no stock wheels, car had a respray to the front. At that mileage it is likely that it will need a top end rebuild.
I got some photos to share:
I will ask for some service history to see what has been done to the car.
I also did a spreadsheet with all the C2S and C4S available for sale... maybe I should not limit the search to Vesuvius Metallic... a lot more cars with lower mileage for less...
I know, sorry, thinking out loud, and you are the only ones that can understand what I am going through...
Cheers!

This is the one I mentioned earlier... that I got an email from a dealer with a customer that had one:
1997 993 Carrera S Vesuvio Metallic/Black 70K
Factory Aero Kit, HRE 18" 5 Spoke 3 piece wheels,
Alu Gauges, Alu Shifter & E-Brake, S.S. Sills,
Factory Carbon Steering Wheel, New tires, Clear Bra,
The Good :
Nearly flawless Paint ( the front end has been resprayed due to chips and there were minor cosmetic scratches on each rear quarter that were also reprayed but the paint work was done extremely well)
Runs and drives really well, very strong and tight , free of any squeaks or rattles, Interior is very clean and nice, Northern California car.
The Bad :
The wind shield has a few pits and a very small star
the Factory Carbon Steering wheel, the top piece of carbon has cracked. ( seller has gotten a bid for repair $500.)
Original wheels are no longer available
Price : $57,000. I think at this price I can talk the seller into fixing the steering wheel and R&R the windshield.

Based on mileage and condition alone, this car should be around low 40's... that is what the others I have seen are listing for.

I will send him an email with the spreadsheet and some reasoning around the $number I will offer... I know how proud a Porsche owner can be when selling his/her baby (heck, I had put my 996TT for sale twice now and twice I have taken it out of the market because I can't seem to be able to let it go... and then people trying to take it away offering ridiculous numbers...) So don't want to offend this guy nor make him feel I am just giving him a number out of the blue...
Will keep you all posted.
