looks like behind the e-brake handle where the normal cassette holder goes?
Looks bulky and obtrusive to me

I have one of these in my 993. It fits exactly where the cassette holder or little storage tray does in the rear of the console. It is not in the way at all. I traded my storage tray even for my CD holder, but the price is crazy if you buy it from a dealer or even from our friendly online vendors.

Yes. You remove the cassette holder and install that instead. It actually tilts up.

You can buy an IPOD for that price.

When I figure out what to replace mine with, I guess I'll sell it. I figured I'd just toss it out, but it seems like everything on these cars is worth its weight in gold (or gasoline ... whichever costs more these days).

I'm using this as a cd holder:

It's a Case Logic Car Visor CD Holder.

I had a similar CD holder in my car for a while. I got tired of hitting it with my elbow and I have since gone the IPOD route.
