Default MB Quart 6.5" fit? / Stereo questions

I'm doing a audio upgrade on my '95 coupe (non-HIFI) and so far I've bought a Porsche/Becker CDR-220 and Ipod interface. I want to have a "OEM" look, I don't want to cheap it out totally but also I know an expensive audiophile system isn't right for me. I'm looking at buying MB quart 2- way speakers for the front but don't know if the ones I'm thinking about will fit in the doors: RVF 216 6.5 inch rated at 70 to 100watts RMS?

Also, looking at JL Audio amps ...300/2 or 300/4 rated at 75watts RMS X 4 & 150watts RMS X2 respectively. Don't know if the size will fit under the passenger seat at 13.4 x 9.25 x 2.36 inches.

Any experiences with this gear or alternate ideas would be welcome.
Thanks, Tom

Yes, I have MB Quart QSD216's in my front stock holes now. I also recommend the Alpine ICE Amps. Perfect lightweight solution for the 993.

Here's a link to a thread with info and pics I posted following my install.

How did you get them to fit? I tried, but without some some cutting (which I didn't do) they wouldn't go in. Went with the 5.5" MB's instead.

Not sure what's different about your install as the reason I went with the 216's are because they are low profile units. Using the MBQ hardware (and as you can see from the photos on my link), they went right in without cutting?

I'm kind of in the same situation, having just replaced the rear speakers, the fronts are over due for replacement. I am looking for a direct replacement speaker that I can reuse the existing factory grilles.

IIRC the depth was OK, but the diameter was too big. I would have had to cut a bigger hole in the panel for it to fit and i didn't want to do that.

Can anyone confirm if the stock speaker grilles just snap off, the old speaker removed and replaced without removing the interior door panel? I'm thinking of purchasing the recommended 5.25" diameter speakers for the stock opening.
