It seems the last time anyone talked about this here was a few months ago. At the time, the exchange rate and the inability to do the remap made this a non-starter. While I know the exchange rate still sucks, has the remap issue been resolved yet?

I expect a top end rebuild in the somewhat less-distant future, and naturally enough I'd like to step things up a notch or two when I do.

Why, just this evening, I had a wee bit of a struggle getting around an M3, and nobody wants that.

This doesn't answer the question, but you might want to read up on Jean's posts about BMEP numbers for this mod. I don't have a horse in this race, but I'd definitely do my research if considering this.

I think Viper Bob has something similar, may want to contact him. Then there's always the Promotive guys and they do a live remap as well (IIRC)

We already have US tuners using our parts and achieveing similar results to engines we have built ourselves, however the majority of the cars that are getting the parts are running Motec. The issue with the 993 9m conversions remains with the US only OBD2 ecu, and the only guy I know who can remap these baby's is Todd at Protomotive.

With respect to our performance claims, all I can do is quote a customer from Sout Africa who recently commissioned a turnkey 4.0 litre 9m Racing engine for his 993RSR:

"Just to let you know I finally raced my car with the new engine this weekend. The car was wonderful and I was more than 1.5 seconds faster than the 996 cup cars. Everybody seems to think my driving improved tremendously since our last race meeting!"

As for BMEP, the proof of the pudding is how fast your car goes, not how much power it makes on the dyno. The last time I measured the acceleration of my 993RS with a 3.8 engine it ran 0-100mph in 8.5 seconds on stock gearing and has won two consecutive Speed Championships. If I get a chance I'll measure the acceleration again with the new 4.0 litre but there is a movie clip on our website from a recent speed event at Croft which will also clearly show how fast it is:

What more do you need?

Thanks, Colin.

As I am by no means an expert on either racing or engine modifications, the testimonials I've read here and in Total911 regarding real world performance is evidence enough for me.

If a top end rebuild is in the cards for me, I want to take advantage of the opportunity it offers to make a significant upgrade.

Hi Colin,

May I have a list of the tuners noted above and if possible their contact info? Also, are there any dyno's from NA you could share?

Also, is it possible for us to send you our '95 (55 pin?) ECU to be modified by yourself? Protomotive aren't any more convenient for me on the west coast than sending the ECU directly to you.

Let me know and thanks in advance.

Doug

Eric, are you strengthening the internals (i.e., rods, bolts, crank, upgraded oil pump, etc.) of your engine with the TT conversion?

No. A number of people have supercharged their engines without internal upgrades, so I skipped it too. The day will come when I'll need an engine rebuild, and then I'll use better rod bolts but I'm not sure if much is needed beyond that.

Wow! I guess the "guts" of our OEM engines are pretty strong to begin with, valve guides, notwithstanding

Well it's been 5 years. Has anybody built one of these in the US?

It would be nice to know the answer to that question. I thought the only challenge was getting an aftermarket ECU (Motec) programmed.

Geoffrey Ring(Racetek Engineering)built 2 for himself, Joel Reiser bought the 9M heads from Geoffreys first for himself AFAI recall Geoffrey bought a new set for the second engine

the original series Singers built by Colin and Geoffrey had 9M motors, I believe that they had the 9M heads too

OK so two race cars but nobody has built one for a street car yet.
