Let's just say that we are currently working on complete air-cooled engine solutions for the US & World markets. Unfortunately I cannot divulge any more until the solutions are done (complete radio silence I am afraid), hence whilst these solutions are being developed we are currently working with individual customers who are building their own engines using the existing proven 9m packages who are also happy to either run a Motec system (or similar) or have their Motronic system remapped.

I'm glad to hear you're working on something for the US and RoW. Do the packages you're currently selling customers consist of upgrades (your heads, cams, rockers, etc) to the 3.6 or are they 3.8 and 4.0 only? I was thinking of a street motor that would be a nice increase in power over the stock 3.6 but not something so exotic that it only goes 100 hours like most of the 110hp/l air-cooled race motors. Who is doing the remapping in the US?

Good to know. It isn't in my immediate plans, but at some point I really want to increase HP without forced induction, and your solution would be at the top of my list if available. An ECU swap or reprogramming would work for me if it can be made to comply in California.

Dead on description Jarg1!

My car doesn't "need" a rebuild...yet... but if a CA 9M solution becomes available, it's a done deal for me. I count myself among many who have been drooling over such a solution. Our cars aren't "slow" but when honda accords and toyota avalons make nearly as much or more hp...

So Colin, if you're listening, you already have pent up demand here in the US...please keep us posted.

Dumb question. Does 9m machine out new heads or modify stock?

I have been reading about this mod but I would love to know more details and pricing etc.

Here is my vague understanding:
9m custom machines new heads of their own design. These heads along with some other top end re build type parts up the HP to around 325 without touching the bottom end. The ecu unit needs to be re-mapped and it currently can only be done in Europe. I am not sure if the mods change the fuel injection system or if they will work on my 95 non-varioram car. I am also not sure what kind of price range this falls into.

So it is as simple as spending 4770 euros on heads? I bet there are lots of other things needed
