Guys and gals,

I am looking for the driver's foot rest that fits the best for our 993s. I bought the one form ultimate pedals, but it deosnt sit flush and straight.

Really??? Mine sits perfectly straight. It took a little while to install and i went through a drillbit or two, but it's fine now.

Do you know what is behind the area that we drill into to mount the footrest? I have the same setup but am not sure what I might hit if I drill through the inner sheetmetal.

I tried drilling it myself and broke 2 drill bits on a cordless 14V drill...any ideas?
Also, did you drill a hole 1st, or just drilled the screw right intp the metal?

I completely feel your pain on getting the dead pedal mounted! It was a pain to deal with the carpet and knowing what material was behind there to drill into...not to mention having a hard time fitting in the darn wheel well! I think I ended up finding one hole was plastic and two metal. I checked for holes in the wheel well etc, and did not find any. I spent a long time sizing things up for proper placement...I wanted it to look good but knowing there was not a lot of foot room down there i didn't want to risk catching my foot while shifting. I settled on a good spot and have not noticed it once while shifting so I am pleased, although my patience was tested!

Rennline had a 15% off sale over the holidays. Bought their dead pedal (black), installed it, love it. Only used two screws to mount it, BTW- One on the center left and the other on the side.

EDIT: Used two screws utilizing the two holes on the left side of the pedal. See picture in my subsequent post.

Here's a picture. I only wanted a decent footrest as there really isn't a comfortable spot in the stock configuration and the carpet was getting soiled. The stock pedals are fine for my purposes and the black dead pedal matches them.

At the time I ordered, the silver "Rennline" badge was being deleted. I would have prefered it without the badge, but they inadvertantly sent the older one. No big deal, though.

Just installed my Ultimate Pedals this weekend. Toughest part was drilling through the metal for the clutch/brake. Had to get a proper drill bit for steel (after spending 45 mins drilling the first hole) which made it much easier with the other holes.

The dead pedal was the easiest. Just lined it up and put 2 - 1/8" holes followed by self tapping screws. Put them in the front part on the lower half as the top part of the well sits back a bit. Didnt use any on the side as its a bitch to get at. Its rock soild.

what does a "self tapping screw" look like, and whats the point of it?
