Project Orange Weight
My car must be snacking on the side. My shop told me it weighed in at 1,278kg with nearly 3/4 of a tank of petrol and 3/4 showing on the oil guage. If I take 50 litres of petrol off at 0.71kg a litre & 13 litre of oil off at 0.9kg a litre I am down to 1,230kg or 2,755 lbs. The manual states that a stock Carrera is 1,370 including 75kg for driver a luggage. Taking the latter off, stock is 1,295kg or 2,900lbs.
So I am 146lbs down on stock. That is less than I thought given what I have done: carbon fiber doors, aluminum hood, RS hood support, LWF, front seats replaced with Recaro SPGs, light weight battery, lighter wheels, lighter cats, lighter carpets, no air bags, lighter cylinder heads, no headlight washer and reservoir, fiberglass rear deck and spoiler, heater bypass, & with the following deletes - aircon, heater, hi-fi, rear seats, interior sound deadening, underseal, power windows, central locking. The added roll cage and second oil cooler must weighed a ton!

As stated above the stock was 1,295kg as per the manual sans driver and luggage. I knew the sunroof was an option but did not realise A/C was an option. I doubt that electric windows and mirrors were options though.

I agree it's very difficult to lose a lot of weight + you need to add stuff for track use,
Rollbar
second cooler + extra oil
bigger brakes
thicker roll bars
bigger wheels

Ummm, Mine weighs 2800# even with a full cage. Fiberglass rear deck lid and fin, gutted drivers door two race seats and RS carpet with no rear seats and fiberglass front nose and thats it. No matter for me anyway as I need to add around 140 pounds for G class anyway.

If yous is originally a US spec car, have you considered lighter bumper supports, lighter front and rear bumperbars, lweight clutch, brakes, undertray, euro kneepad, RS door cards, etc etc? Over 100 lbs right there.

1278kg with 3/4fuel is pretty light. Back in the early 90s Porsche was much more honest with its stated weights and the 993s usually came out spot on, see the link below - the weights are measured by Sport Auto as per DIN conditions

It was mid 996 production run that Porsche started playing the game culmulating in the 997GT3 where seemingly ALL the production cars are minimu 50kg heavier than stated !

Thanks for the suggestions. Mine is a Hong Kong spec car. I have the RS door cards and euro kneepad. The brakes are heavier RS big reds though. I did think about some Brembos you recommended way back but they were out of my budget at USD10,000 plus. There is weight in the front & rear bumber supports but I could not find any alternatives. The clutch is RS. The undertray is gone. I suppose to get more weight off is going to be expensive.

You have either read your manual wrong or it is printed wrongly. The 1370kg number is the DIN weight so all fluids, 90% full fuel but ZERO occupants, check out the manual extract below:

Tecart make some very nice carbon bumper supports,,very light and almost too good looking to hide under the cover......This weight thing can become an obsession for some,,,,mine is sort of light as it left the factory, but I prefer to spend the money on driver instruction rather than making it a few grammes lighter.
