Default Drove the girl to work today : )

After not driving my baby much for three months, my girl is back on the road better than ever!

Taylor at ASG pulled the engine to put in a new clutch, valve cover gaskets, plugs and power steering belt. He also did front brakes and rotors, hood struts, oil change, alignment, serviced the air filter, balanced the tires and added a protection bar (because she's so low and I live in a world of speed bumps and bad aprons).

So I brought her home, gave her a bath and put 200 miles on her this weekend and drove her to work today! Yipee!

The bad news: I do have a bent rim... I hit a pot hole

The pics are kind of crummy... cell phone camera and nasty lighting in the shop.

See you on the road... or you'll see my taillights anyway

Denise, what kind of clutch did you have put in? Stock DMF, or some other type?

Cactus,
Nope... not cheap at all... I offered to write the check out to his kid's college for a semester of tuition, room and board... but hey, it's only money... you can't take it with you!

Dan,
They put in a stock Sachs clutch. I bought a used clutch from a rennlister, but decided not to use it considering the engine had to be pulled, it wasn't worth it.

The SC Rocks! I'm not sure I could drive a non-SC 993.

I had lunch with my parents on Sunday and there were two local cops eyeing my car outside of the restaurant. The one asked me if she was fast... I said "Yeah, even without the supercharger." They laughed ... I then quickly assured them that I wouldn't know for sure, since I NEVER drive above 55mph. They told me it wasn't nice to lie to the police.

They were driving some hot looking, brand new Dodge Chargers. So, if you happen to be in Thurmont, MD, watch out if you see a Dodge Charger in your rearview mirror.... it's likely to be the fuzz!

Did you ask them if it had a HEMI? The 993 does.

Denise - I think you could potentially recoup some of ASG costs by lining us all up and charging a modest fee to sample your car If I may, how many miles do you have now and how many have been put on with the SC???

+1

I contemplated removing to run in a different class, so I would be more competetive and probably more reliable, but after finally getting the car back on the road yesterday after the interior conversion; I changed my mind once the boost came on. The IC is on its way. I hope to get it and installed before my first track event.

Marlon,
That could possibly be arranged... The SC was installed 9/2/2002 with roughly 43,800 miles on her. I just turned over 68,000 miles on Sunday. That is 24,200 supercharged miles.

Taylor took a bit of time to clean up some of the slightly sloppy TPC wiring and now it's all nice and neatly packed in.... feels faster too, but that's probably because I haven't driven her in a while.

I didn't ask and they were both kind of cute, so I could have chatted them up if it weren't for my parents being with me... I've gotten two tickets in that area, so I think it's probably in my best interest to get to know the cops better, don't you think?

As I was reading your story about conversing with the local cops and how "they laughed" I was saying there is no way these were Fairfax County locals...those guys don't laugh about anything. Then finally read the last paragraph and realized they were the local cops where your parents live.

Does ASG still have a website? I can't seem to find any links to it.
