Unhappy OT Sad News over on the 911 Board; Paul Frere has passed away

Racer, author and automotive journalist Paul Frere has passed away. He
was the author of "The Porsche 911 Story" considered by many to be one
of the great books on early Porsche history. I haven't figured out how to
include links to other threads on Rennlist yet but thought some of you
folks may want to express your thoughts.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I learned so much about Porsche's by reading many of Paul's articles and books. He drove in so many road tests and his descriptions from behind the wheel were some of the best.

Sad news, his reviews and intellect will be missed. And he did drive a 993, a GR NB coupe.

I have his 8th edition of "The 911 Story" and it was his articles in R&T many years ago that I was reading when I fell in love with Porsche. I'm sure there is a 993 waiting for him! RIP Paul.

He was really an extraordinary man! At the age of 87 he piloted the Audi R8 in Le mans. Making a lap time below 4 minutes!

Darn, really saddened to hear this. Paul was a legend in his own right. Gives me that same feeling as when I heard JFK had died. I have Porsche Story at home in my collection, God speed Paul.
