Default Airbag Warning Light Reset

I decided to recover my steering wheel in new leather. While the wheel was off, idiot me started the car. Yes, I know.......90 hours workweek will do that to you.

Anyway, I triggered the airbag light. Any other way to reset this without using the Bosch tool?

Thanks

Guy

Sorry..no other way. Dealer would have to do it. They may charge you $50 to reset it. 10 minute job. They don't call them "Stealers" for nothing...

Thanks for the confirming.....

The $50 is the easy part, trusting anyone with my freshly painted, freshly trimmed interior with new carpet car is hard, very hard.

Took about four months, will have to post some images....

Yep... Also I can also confirm the dealer reset. I called around and they are the only ones with the high dollar computer needed to reset it. Check with the dealers in your area. I found some wanted $150 while others wanted $50.

Good luck....

You don't need to go to the dealer if you know someone in your area who bought/built the 993 scantool that has been discussed in the last couple years. I got the scantool and was able to reset my airbag light myself.

Too bad you're not in Chicago...

Isn't the "rennlist" scan tool for ODBI cars (MY95)? Or does it work on ODBII cars with ODBII connectors? I believe his car is a ODBII car (MY98)

My local indie has the "Hammer" (scan tool). You're in Bucks Co., several good indie's up there I suspect might have one too.

It started out as a 964/OBDI system, but IIRC the design evolved to work for the OBDII system.

Thanks Eric. Good to know. It would be nice having one laying around...I'll look into it.

Anyone have any knowledge/experience with this solution?

http://www.durametric.com/default.aspx

They claim to be able to reset airbag light - just $250.

There's a thread on that right now. Looks like you can reset the airbag light with that too.

Yes the Durametric tool can also reset your airbag light. Might check to see if anyone local has any of these tools....

Do you have one Bob? I switched my steering wheel tonight to a 3 spoke and had to go get my daughter in the middle of the job. Found this thread about starting the car AFTER...
Anyway, see you tomorrow?
