I really don't think 91 or 92 will be a problem. If you're hitting the track in warm weather, you should probably dilute with 100 to get up to 93 or so.

I personally use any name-brand 93 octane, but only because I'm so used to driving the Prius that I never notice I'm low on gas until the light is on. If I had more sense, I'd probably only use shell.

I use the highest octane possible. On hot race days, 100 octane goes in. On cool DE days, 91 or 92 octane. Steve Weiner has always talked about subaural detonation, and I have heeded his sage advice by using good gas, despite the fact that I have never heard pinging.

I thought CA was the only state where we get the $hit 91...when I drove across country a few years ago, everywhere I stopped I found 93. WA doesn't have 93 as the standard premium fuel??

When I am in New Mexico 91 is rare, and the mid grade is lower, like 88 or something. I seem to remember running into 90 and 88 a lot

Honestly, what kind of question is this? Like anybody here was going to fess up to using 87 or 89 octane with ethanol even and say all was good? You drive a 911. Put the best gas in it that is available in your area. Heck, I do this in all the cars that I own, even my '98 540 which only calls for 89 octane still gets 92 in Nebraska. Except for my Touareg TDI as there is only one diesel to be had.

Crap, what's next? Which brand of windshield wiper fluid do you use?

Matt, I'll publicly appologize for my extreme sarcasm above in answering your question. The "which oil" threads always get me on edge. All of us midwesterners and left coasters are surviving on 91 and 92 with no problems. As an east coaster, you have access to some better gas. I say treat your 993 to the best you can get at your local gas station and call it good.
