Three Wheelin'
Small world Shamrock and Alex...
As an ex-Dub I would routinely hop on my bike and cycle (from Dundrum) with my airband radio and, with a flask of coffee and some 'sambos', 'plonk' myself down at the end of the main runway (before they built the new ones!), and spend the whole day airplane-watching. Loved to watch the 707's and DC-8's, Viscounts and Vanguards...
I still have the C-60 (BASF!) tape that I made of the ATC<->B747 transmissions of when Phelim Cronin flew John Paul II over to Ireland and the Fouga Magisters 'patroling' around.
I guess when it's in your blood, it's in your blood.
I also went to Rockwell College (Cashel, Co. 'Tip'!) -- 1974 to 1979.

I guess you remember Father Reid and Nolan, dean of discipline and dean of studies, respectively.
I use to tune in a cheap airband radio, go to the roof of the apartment I live in (less than a mile final) and listen in to get used to the ramble. By the time I was doing my commercial, I could predict instructions before ATC gave them to me as I was entering the zone. Its always good to have a birds-eye view of the zone, where you are in it and where all the traffic is that you should also be listening to. I should have gone into ATC when I quit flying...would have been a walk in the park for me.

Macca, **** may well be popular in NZ, but here in the UK, we don't even know what that means. We do have some examples of Victorian erotic art circulating from the turn of the century, but that's as far as it goes over here.....
In terms of other hobbies, here's one of mine:

Dude. You should come to live in New Zealand. We have more sailing than anywhere else per head of capita. We build nice saling boats too.
**** was invented in America I think. I believe its big there. Thats why Im suprised its no ones hobby. Maybe its just too common over there. Ive only heard of it because NZ is pure and like UK we dont get much of it down here....
