Cars and sailboats take up most of my time. Besides the 911 I've got a 928 'project' of sorts.

I've got a 33' sailboat on the coast in Charleston, SC, which takes up quite a few weekends. It's a blast! I also race on a Melges 30 out of Lake Lanier in GA and also own/race a Nacra 20 catamaran.

Boats are a lot like cars, just holes to throw money into.

Ha!
Must admit, it's NOT for everybody, but having said that, I think everyone should try it just once.

Nowadays, with 'Tandem Jumps' you can, literally, plonk down about $250, complete a morning's worth of 'training' (arch!), and exit (strapped to a Tandem Instructor) out of a Twin Otter from around 13,000' AGL - enjoy about 30 secs. of freefall time followed by about 5 mins of canopy time, land back on terra firma and be home for supper with a 'cool video to show your pals' tucked under your armpit.
<plug for sport off>

My own most memorable jumps:

1. My first static-line jump hanging off the strut of a Cessna 182
2. Jumps - out the back of a Boeing 727 doing 200+kts (a la DB Cooper)
3. Jumps - from 23,000' from Mike Mullin's King Air
4. Jumps - from Rod Tinney's Bell 412 helicopter
5. Jump #1,000 ...which I had to do ...naked.

:-O

Me too :D

The image was taken with the useless iPhone 3Gs camera. It is a 748R from 2002. I use it mostly on track days.

I also see that I share other interests with people here on the forum and and must admit that I think rennlist one of the better online community.

Love Corsica. It was our favorite summer destination and one of the few places in the Med you could find empty beaches in the August. The Corsicans are a strange bunch though.

They are not very tourist friendly. It has its historical explanation. Stunning nature and very nice roads. It is a haven for practicing adventure sports.

Great great thread!

Lots of very clever talented people on board , no wonder it's THEE tech Porsche site.

I'd have to say my first real hobby in life is my family .. Wife and kids ,you can't beat it! ThoughI won't bore y'all with pics.. Well maybe just one blurry one of my better half at a recent fancy dress!

Next up .. And in no particular order .. Cruising the Shannon (Google it!) on my part owned (in the background) and having the odd pint with my father in law .. Even better when I can combine the two :D

I love the amount of flight/flying enthusiasts that hang loose here .. I started a thread some years ago asking who flew commercially .. LOADS of you guys..

Well , obviously having said that, me too ..
I've been at it for 21 years now , still flying shorthaul on A320's (it's a tall ladder in my airline!) all over Europe. I mention this as I guess I'm lucky to love what I do , it's the closest hobby/job you can get.

.. And lastly , the hobby that's dominated 30 years of my existance.
Guitars , blues , rock , Led Zeppelin , gigs .
I've about 10 guitars , been collecting them for a loong time , the Les Paul is from '76 , Fender from '79 , the 1275 (double neck) was bought new 15 years ago , and the Strat like purple monster a Suhr bought in 48th St. Custom about 10 years ago. The very best guitar I've ever played... But then none of the above are SERIOUS collectables so what do I know!
Btw, that's a cheap turntable in the background , love that vinyl warmth, with 'Back in Black' ready to play

I used to fly with them a long time ago when they used to fly out of Montreal. I'd get my flight to Dublin and return via Shannon.

Between flights I'd spend the year at Rockwell College. For Christmas, I got to fly back home and for Easter I'd fly to Germany.

The little gears in my head started turning at a very early age. How to get up flying in an airplane...simple, tell my parents I had to go to school overseas. Little did I know at the time I'd end up with thousands of hours PIC as a flight instructor.

I did miss putting the "flying" aspect into my list of hobbies...didn't have any pics handy.

I did go to Oshkosh to the EAA Fly-In four years straight...ended up with an RV-4 tail kit. Sadly I never saw that dream come true. Aircraft like boats...consume you, worse than Porsches.
