I'm an old MX guy from back in the early/mid '70's. So collecting and riding vintage two-stroke MX and enduro bikes is one of the other interests.
Back in '03 I rode along side Malcolm Smith (MSR Racing) in the Berkshire ISDTRR and was awarded a bronze medal. At one time there were over 50 in the collection, now somewhere just north of 30. Although I've restored a few, now I choose to keep them all original. It often takes years to acquire the correct part. Yup, remember 'Dezzie' well. (I was in the choir, the Balloon club and the Red Cross.) Fr. Michael Holohan, "Chu Chu", and Fr. Sean Broderick were the Deans (of Discipline) during my junior and senior years. Was also in the camera club with Fr. Naas Mc Cool. Headmaster at the time was Fr. Brendan Hally. Moses, how I can just rattle off names like that ...seems like yesterday.
Yup, the old airband radio made you feel like you were MORE than just a 'liker of airplanes' ...it made you feel 'connected'. Many a time, late in bed, with nothing on the CB radio, I'd listen to one of the old 737's do a 'Precision Radar Approach' and wonder if I'd ever be able to do THAT one day... ...little did I know - later on in life - I'd be shooting ILS apps. down to minimums (300', 1/2 mile in mist and rain) with the wife in the right seat waiting to see 'the rabbit'. I guess you remember Father Reid and Nolan, dean of discipline and dean of studies, respectively. I use to tune in a cheap airband radio, go to the roof of the apartment I live in (less than a mile final) and listen in to get used to the ramble. By the time I was doing my commercial, I could predict instructions before ATC gave them to me as I was entering the zone. Its always good to have a birds-eye view of the zone, where you are in it and where all the traffic is that you should also be listening to. I should have gone into ATC when I quit flying...would have been a walk in the park for me. |

I love the pictures of your boats! Here's a shot of my 33' cruiser in Charleston (with a very 'accomplished' crew) as well as a few shots of my race boat.

Freediving Spearfishing. The kid in the picture is my grandson. The fish in the picture were caught in 65 feet of water. Apnea the ultimate thrill.

Is that a recent pic? Seems a little chubby. I recall that the Bultaco Pursang 250 had forward mounted shocks. Maybe a later year model. Do you have the pic of him "pushing away" on a jump? It was used on Bultaco ads. The posted photo was taken back in '01 as he was just about to do the "Lap of Honor" at VMD, mid-ohio. Is this the shot you were thinking of? |

Nice! Was it a DC2R? Did you have to dyno tune the JUN cams to get power or did it happen right away? My car has a JDM B18C (high compression Type R) with stock internals. The car does pull roughly as fast as my C4. About 70 less hp but with over 700lbs less weight. It handles like a big go-kart at the track and i can really toss it around without fear of impending death or dollar signs. It's funny that my one car has way too much weight in the front, and the other has way too much weight in the rear! Definitely makes for two very different driving experiences. Then there's my daily 02 Subaru WRX which gets me up and down the mountain. Now that car with snow tires = invincible fun! |
