Default Ruf BTR2 Convertible?

Hi all,
The following car is on our New Zealand "Ebay Equivilent".
Looks nice...anyone care to comment on the "one of four built" claim?

Hmmm.....could be...but RUF is about performance and speed, and for a company that installs integrated roll cages to stiffen the car and add an additional measure of safety due to the stress their enhancements put on the car's structure, I find it hard to believe they'd cut the roof off. But then again you never know...I guess I'd call Alois myself, to verify they did build 4 BTR cabrios.

Hi Tania,

This is a strange duck. The EKS system is genuine Ruf, cannot get that in a conversion. But this car shows a standard 4-spoke Porsche steering wheel, whereas Ruf uses the Atiwe 3-spoke SW. OEM Porsche seats as well, and I think Ruf would put Ruf race seats in a custom built BTR.

The BTR is rated at 426 HP, so I don't know here this 500 HP comes from. Don't know anything about the 4 cab-built statistics, but could well be true. In any case, this is an interesting car. Would love to see all the Ruf paperwork if available.

You should buy this car, as I love the BTR. But then your normal speed-limit is 100 Km/H, and that is kind of a waste for the BTR.

That cars been for sale on and of for about 3 years now.
The last seller is a Porsche Specialist so I would have thought it was the real deal? Who knows....nice car all the same.
I thought the year was strange but maybe someone took it to RUF for the works burger.

The steering wheel is in the wrong place
On a more serious note, is that where the ignition key is on all RHD cars?

I think that you can start the car and open the glove box at the same time in NZ

The spoiler is not what I would expect for a car of that generation. Looks to me like a 930 tray spiler???

Interesting comments...I thought it was a bit of a strange one.
Not the car or me I'm afraid...wrong colour
Besides, I'm not a drop-top fan.

You can go as fast as you want, if you don't get caught
We have a fairly viscious enforcement clamp down going on. There are places where you can go almost as quick as you want with virtual impunity, but there are plenty of other places where the police are thick on the ground and show no mercy!
Don't get me started on speed limit enforcement though.......like everything, there are a few idiots out there who spoil it for everyone.

When I visited, I was repeatedly warned that the local officials are VERY serious about speeding. Most roads are one lane each way, undivided. They don't wnat any head-on collisions, especially with visitors blasting down the wrong side of the road.

And you were only 40 minutes from where I live man!!
Maybe next visit.
I could have showed you some excellent driving spots with lots of twisties, straits and launch pads. Tania's right on about the police here, they show no mercy. It's the boy racers that ruin it for us all. Little ****s.

(Amfab I think that you can start the car and open the glove box at the same time in NZ)

Only if you are double jointed!

That car has been around for quite some time. An eccentric Aucklander owned a car yard and had that and a GT2 Clubsport for sale on it for at least 3 years. He has had the 993 modded within his ownership I believe.

There used to be an article from Classic Car of it online but I can't find it now. Below are some vids from that article.

We have 5 Ruf vehicles in NZ that I know of and possibly more?

993BTR2 Cab (This one) Has only been owned for a short time buy the guy in the link below.

993BTR2 Coupe (Daniels old car was green and is now red)

965BTR2 Coupe (used to reside in Wellington)

965RUF (was last seen for sale in Christchurch. I actually looked at buying it and chose my 993 instead due to the possible running cost and limited resale market)

965RUF (used to be Terry Serepisos' car) Was crashed when being road tested by Auto Brake and Clutch. Father and Son from ABC pictured below. Was rebuilt and is now up for sale again.

Isn't it nice to live in a country where the Porsche community is so small that all cars can be accounted for?
Except that it also limits the size of the second hand market as well.
