Just brainstorming here but could you mix the motorcycle Mobil 1 with the std. SM M1? Maybe a 50/50 mix? Just a thought.

FWIW I ordered a case of the Swepco from LN.

Does cat damage increase the exhaust restrictions or increase emissions or both?

As always, stop looking for an answer that isn't there and take advantage of the experts here on RL.

Me, I'm going with either Swepco or Brad-Penn--even if I have to order it.

Thanks again, Steve Weiner.

Went with the 40 weight because of advice from PCA racer who has analyzed his oil (many times) between 50 & 40 weight and the results were quite a lot better when he used the 40 weight oil.
I was trying to get the 40W as well, but the shop only had the 50W and 30W so I decided to mix the 50W down a tad. No science behind what I did, but if the oil were analyzed I'm thinking it might register a 45W.

I can get the ELF and other fancy Euro oils at local stores, but must pay Euro prices, which (for SOME reason which I can't figure out) are 25E and upwards, PER LITER! Mobil 1 is 32E per liter at the local "Checker Auto" equivalent. At current rates, that is about $40!!!! PER BOTTLE! So, what is that, about $450 or so for JUST THE OIL for each oil change.

Nobody in the US can send me oil such as SWEPCO, even through the APO, because it is "flammable."

I'll research this further when I get back out of the sandbox next month, but this is going to HURT.....
Try the 10W-50 Elf, at Autohaus in AZ. Reasonably priced, but I'm not sure about shipping regualtions. Oil costing $450 just for the lubricant is F'ing insane!

Both, but I'm most concerned about increased exhaust restriction that a clogged cat can cause.

If you don't need to smog your car, putting on a cat bypass is probably a good thing.

LOL,......Methinks this is being 'overanalyzed',....

I've seen a LOT of catalytic converters in my time and the failed ones were all due to heat-related issues due to improper fuel mixtures. Remember now, this spans 30+ years where SF, SG, SH, oil contained plenty of ZDDP.

I've never seen any cat that failed due to excessive Zn or P,........ The cores were always melted and fused together due to either too lean or excessively rich mixtures.

Use one of the above oils (as so noted) in good health,....

So, I guess I'll pull my Craigslist ad for my motorcycle oil . . .

To paraphrase the little girl who wrote in her diary, "Goodbye, God, I've gone to Bodie"--Goodbye, Mobil, I've gone to Swepco.

So Steve [Renn Sport]
I just had an oil service on my new 993 TT.I put in Redline 15/50 High performance oil at about $10 a Quart. Is my motor OK with this?It does say
SE/SL on the bottle.
Next service I think I will swith to BRAD/PENN.Is 5000 Miles between changes on Brad Penn acceptable, being it is non synthetic?
