Redline, hands down, the best oil for our cars. I use 15/50 for my specific climate. Redline may go up as much as $10 p/qrt. but in the long run, quality oil that is consistently changed is the best preventive maintenance you can do on your car.

I'm staying with the Brad Penn. It has been great in our south Texas super-hot summer weather.

You put the 300v in? That stuff is EXPENSIVE! I put the "Specific" in the C4 in 8100 in the C4S. I have noticed the car runs smoother, feels stronger, & of course haven't had to add any. But to be fair, I usually only add about 1qt a year to the C4.

I've never understood the incredible confidence show in statements such as these. How does one know that Brand X is the best for the 993, or is performing superior to other brands? This isn't like recording zero-to-sixty times. Are we able to measure wear on the valve guides and cam lobes and rod bearings without tearing down the motor? And the mind reels at all the variables in play when it comes to engine wear -- ambient temperatures, driving style, QC issues from the factory, and on and on.

Seems to me like one has to just find an oil with the right additives and in the right weight and call it good enough.

Yes, it's relatively expensive, plus it needs to be changed more frequently. Still, the difference is a max of $400/year for me (at three change intervals, 3K miles per.) It may be down to 2 OCI next year as I no longer have a commute.

M1 15w50
April '09 - May '10
13,645 miles
1,051 miles / qt.

Motul 300V 15w50
May '10 - Current
17,809 miles
1,533 miles / qt.
