You gotta squeeze a lotta babies to get even enough oil for one quart. I hear the purification process is a b!tch too...

Sorry- couldn't resist.

I'm actually working on getting some of the 300V in the 5w40 and 15w50, as I've been very impressed with how the motul oils have been working in my new cars. 300V carries an API SH rating, with plenty of Zn and P and the favorable lower levels of Ca detergents, like the aforementioned Brad Penn and the old M1 15w50 and 0w40 from yester-year.

i feel mobil 1 and old dated lubricant.
personal opinion of course.
Always used motul on my sport cars and bikes and is just excellent.
top choice for sport european manufacturers.

And what about 20W60- is that just too heavy for our motors?
Last summer I was on tracks in Al and Ga where the ambient air temps were close to 100F- don't know the track temps but higher still. I'd like to safeguard my motor in these conditions

Not sure. I'd defer that to a race engine builder. Maybe Steve wants to chime in there. But regardless, if the car was on the track with ambient temps way over 100F, depending on how hot the oil runs, a 20w60, like the motul 300v, would be a good choice for engines with oil temps say, maybe over 240F?

Good News
at least for me and my current oil choice.

Pep Boys in So. Cal. is now selling the "newly re-released" Mobile 1 5 - 40 Turbo Diesel oil.
$5.99 / qt.

blah blah blah APl Cl-4, Sl/CF rated blah blah blah.

may not be perfect, but i'll take my chances

enjoy!

I thought you were joking.... oh well, there goes that choice:

http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...uck_5W-40.aspx

Now CJ-4, which it's probably just a re-bottled CJ-4 Delvac 1 5w40.

There's always Motul 300V 5w40 SH rated! :-)

When did they change it to CJ-4 from CI-4? Done/seen a VOA yet?

There are plent of VOA's on the new CJ-4 oils out there. They look to have about 1200ish ppm zinc and 1100ish ppm phos. The UOA's I've looked at in some diesel engines that have run them out are very impressive indeed. It'll take a little longer to get some history and trends together but the CJ-4 oils are very good so far.

Default Seattle or West Coast suppliers of Swepco or Brad Penn

Does anyone know where to get this in my area or shipped from somewhere in the west? Cost of shipping from the east coast is nearly as much as the oil itself!!!

thanks,
Doug
