Yes we did do exactly that. The hole weakened the sides (also potentially the extra stress from the bolts squeezing as that same spot) so we had several that failed and cracked right to the bolt hole.

$200.00 / car set would be group buy pricing without the need for a group buy.

Chris - I'm in. Have you considered a subscription service where we just send $ monthly and you send some new & useful part a couple times a year?

MarkD - you should be able to do this upgrade without having to R&R the rear shocks & thus needing an alignment.

Chris,
Are the mounts smooth inside, or machined to mimic the shock body threads? If smooth, then no further questions, your honor.

If 'threaded', would that potentially prevent one from placing the new mount up tight to the existing lock ring, assuming one were half a thread height off? (I guess the lock ring could be rotated ever so slightly to meet the mount.)

OK folks, go easy on me - I'm a relative newbie to 993 suspension upgrades.

Chris - I have Bilstein HD's/M030 on the way from Viper Bob. Extra locking collars included - whilst in there, should I pop these in as well?

BTW - got my bushings, thanks!

The prototype photo shows a threaded inside mount.

Hmm... mark the height and cut the inferior piece off? Then install the ultra cool Walrod component?
I haven't had a chance to get the car in for the alignment/cb yet but it really would have helped during the suspension install when messiing with the height.

Good idea on the subscription service...
Keep up the great work Chris

Chris,

I just got a set of pss9 for my 96 c4s and searching through the threads for "pss9 install" when I ran across your thread about the rear drop link mount. Did you ever finalized the item and put it into production? If so, do you still make them because I am interested in a set since I am about to put the pss9 in. Thanks,

yet another advantage to Chris' design is the nicely machined flat for lock ring clearance.

I didn't see this thread till it was too late and had to use a rotary file to grind on the Bilstein drop link mount for clearance.

see photo's below for before / after and area to grind

Smile Cost of a rotating sway bar mount....

You can snap off the sway bar mount, you'll break drop links and you could score or possibly bend, or break your rear toe arm, not the kinematic, the other one. ..don't ask me how I know this. If you do ruin your toe link, great excuse to by ERP links.

I now have my drop links sway bar shock mount double collared and I went to the Tarrett drop links. I have the mounts checked before every track event...the Tarrett drop links have been great, no problems.

Chris's product looks great...so well thought out!
