Keith, I got mine at the end of November. Where would I find the build date? Something else to consider, the fronts were sent Fed-Ex from Germany to a dealer in Washington, the rears non-express to that same dealer as there were far more rears than fronts available.

I'll check mine to see where the build date stamp is. If I recall, it's in the barrell next one of the spokes. I'm almost positive I've got the I/I config but will check that is well.

Rob, Keith, I almost want to get another set for a "future project", they just look so right on these cars. Trouble is, I don't know what that "future project" is yet and that's a lot of money to tie up on YET ANOTHER set of wheels! Good luck to you both with your respective sales and let me know where the date of manufacture is on these things so I can pass the info along.
Tim.

Rob, is that same date on all four wheels? Will I be able to see the marking with them mounted on the car? The saga continues.......

After double checking, it appears my fronts have a 2005 manufacture date (stamped on the back side of the spoke). It appears the DOM had something to do with the i/I change. Not a big deal in my book...

You would be able to see the marking from the back side of each rim with tires mounted. Not from the face, of course.

Dumb question. If these were manufactured as late as last year, could we assume that they WILL continue to produce these in the future. After all, if they're still selling(even at the high price they demand) why not make more?

How can I get a set for a widebody. Do I need to get custom barrels or what. I have been on the FVD website and I think there is a widebody barrel. Is the barrel where the correct offset will come from.

They did not make the RS Speedlines for WB cars...Keith successfully adapted his to his WB with appropriate spacers.

As an aside....I haven't really pushed the set I have since posting here a month or so ago. Getting ready to market them more aggressively if anyone has an interest. They are near excellent for not nearly as much as the ebay post.
Keith,
Check your PMs or e-mail.
Thanks,

It would not be difficult to make custom sized Speedline wheels for widebody 993's. I am making a custom set of Aliseo Speedlines for a 1986 930 where I used a 6" outer rear hoop with a custom built 5.25" inner to make a 11.25 and if I reuse the aluminum crush ring it will be a 11.5" wheel. It is a 40 bolt 3 piece wheel that is Speedline bolts, bolt spacing, rim halves inner and outers but just does not say Speedline for Porsche.

So question is what size wheels do you want on the car? How much space inward and outward is available from the standard 10" Speedline rear wheels? I have (1) Super Cup 993 outer rim half that is 2.25 with the famous Speedline for Porsche etching still showing, so I know the factory did make larger sizes. This rim probably made a 10.5 or with a 9" inner hoop would have made an 11.5" wide rear wheel.

I have been refinishing bolts for Speedline owners, selling spare parts, and refinishing wheel sets.

This is amazing stuff. I have a build date stamped on the inner spoke next to the bolts of 12-12-94 on each of the rims. There is a rectangular grid with the 12th month vacant of an imprint. I'll take some pics to explain. I'd have to believe these are early...very early set of original Speedlines that went on a 993RS.

Even more bizarre, which I've never mentioned....the Gent I bought these from in NC claims they came off a Seinfeld 993RS in Cali several years ago. I bought these with aged, vintage Pirelli slicks on them and didn't really put much credence into their history. I just wanted the bloody rims !!! I don't know......what have I got here ??

Pics from my original purchase....

Keith-

I have the same stamp you describe also on the inside barrel. Your set looks like it has quite the history! Still amazed they are still available.

Guys, I don't know where you get the idea that speedlines were not made for wide bodied cars.
Surely they were standard equipment for the 993 GT2?
front were 9j with Et 34 and rears 11j with Et 18.
They had a magnesium centre instead of the heavy alloy version of the RS.

If you look on here, http://shop.fvd.de/ under the wheels section, they have individual speedline rim and wheel parts available....

I don't have time to search now, but there is a good chance they have wide rims avaiable....they certainly had the narrow bodied rims last time I looked.
