Having my 993 painted. Getting a few things shaved, what else would you do?
Hello,
My C2 is getting full respray. I plan to shave all bumperettes, remove carrera badge and replace all rubber, and get new headlights.
What else have you done or would you do while it is being redone?
They are starting on the car today.
Thanks,
Steve

Wouldn't it be easier to just remove the bumperettes, rather than shave them? When do bumperettes start needing to be shaved, anyway? My car, a '96, is 12 years old now -- I figure I've still got a few years to go?
(sorry, couldn't resist)

Definately lose the headlight washers, front plate holes and MAYBE paint the black grill on the rear power spoiler body color, especially if the rear bumperettes are going to be gone. I think the painted spoiler grill can make your *** look fatter

Thats only if you paint it plaid.
I'm doing a "reasonable" restoration on my 993 next winter(07/08). I'm shaving the rain gutters, headlight washers, bumperettes and replacing the interior. Also, going to seam weld the chassis. I'm still debating on biting the bullett and doing a sunroof delete as I never use it and my head brushes on it while wearing a helmet.

If the little added weight from a couple of extra coats of clear isn't an issue, have your painter apply it and then have it block sanded with 1600/2000 to a "dead flat" finish.

Here's a work in progress:
