Default Roof Replacement Update

May 2008 be a great year to all!!! It has been awhile since my last post that showed the new roof welded in place with the rain gutter delete. Work has progressed with the application of body polyester and smoothing/blending that the included pictures show. The rest of the body is being prepaired for a full paint job, including the headlight washer delete. The new interior will take some time, details, details, details. My hope is that the car will be done in two or three more months in time for the nice spring weather.

George,
Looks like it's coming along nicely! At least your car is in good company....

Remember this drive - maybe two years ago?

Patience!
It'll be worth it in the end ...and you'll get to appreciate her more.

No....he has probably one of the most horrible "damage" stories I have ever heard on Rennlist.

At the time, about a year and a half ago, the shop (Autocrafter in Manassas, VA) ordered a new roof from Porsche. It was the only one in the whole world and it had a sunroof. Porsche must stamp new ones once a year?? Anyway it arrived in a large 'chicken' crate. Robert removed the damaged roof by drilling out the spot welds at the front cowling and just above the engine cover. The rest of the roof is just held together by the crimp od the rain gutter seam.

Carefull welding minimized distortion and the need for massive amounts of body filler. This guy is an artist!!!!

Yes, I am a very patient man!!! But I can't wait till this is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to see she is coming along. The 2008 Parade is coming to Charlotte in June. Might be an opportune time for the unveiling.

You're going to have the nicest 993 roof there is. Glad you can see light at the end of the tunnel.

I went by the Shop Thursday. Robert will be applying somesort of epoxy base coat with a high build primer on top today. Once the car is 'one color' it should really start to show the new look/shape. I was going to take some pictures, but the batteries were dead. Next week there should be some nice pix.

Charlotte in June sound like a great idea... I will see about that!!!

Might want to cover your K&N (or better yet give it a cleaning before starting it next) to keep out the dust and debris from all the sanding etc.

Good Point. I am thinking of doing a different air cleaner... larger and maybe boxed up to the wing grill for better cold air intake. Need to look at this.

Thanks!!!!

I did a mostly stock dyno and got 202 rwhp. After the SC install I had TPC fine tune the set up that gave 322 rwhp without any intercooler. This car is mostly street with some Autocross and Driver Ed events. Have had no problems!!!
