Default Fabspeed Products vs. Stock

I want to clarify my post from the other day about weight savings using Fabspeed’s products. The stock catalytic converters weigh in at 24 lbs, and the stock mufflers with all hardware weigh in at 35 lbs. Thus equaling around 60 lbs. for the stock weight (TheOtherEric was around 63 lbs. for the stock weight). The Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers weight in at 29 lbs. with all hardware and tips, while the Supercup system weighs around 12 lbs. The Fabspeed Gillet/Bischoff catalytic converters weigh 13.3 lbs. with muffler bypass pipes attached. The Fabspeed Gillet/Bischoff catbypass pipes weigh 10lbs. with attached muffler bypass pipes and hardware. So, to equate Fabspeed vs. stock products, I found that by running Fabspeed Gillet/Bischoff sportcats with muffler bypass pipes vs. stock (60 lbs-13.3 lbs=46.7 lbs) you will save AROUND 45 lbs. If you run Fabspeed Gillet/Bischoff catbypass pipes vs. stock (60lbs- 10lbs=50lbs) you will save AROUND 50lbs. I apologize for the confusion in the original post, I wanted to clarify the weight difference so that everyone can see the weight savings running Fabspeed vs. stock. We are also in the process of installing an AWD Dynojet. For more information visit www.fabspeed.com or call direct at 215-646-4945. Godspeed

Stock Cats + Stock Mufflers and Tips= 24 + 35= 59-60 lbs.
Stock Cats + Maxflo Mufflers and Tips= 24+ 29=53 lbs You save 7 lbs.
Stock Cats + Supercups= 24 + 12=36lbs. You save 24 lbs.
Fabspeed Cats + Stock Mufflers and Tips= 12 + 35=47lbs. You save 13 lbs.
Fabspeed Cats + Maxflo Mufflers and Tips= 12 + 29=41lbs. You save 19 lbs.
Fabspeed Cats + Supercups= 12 + 12=24lbs You save 36 lbs.
Fabspeed Cats + Muffler Bypass= 13.3lbs YOU SAVE 46.7 lbs!!!!
Fabspeed Catbypass + Stock Mufflers= 9 + 35= 44lbs You save 16 lbs.
Fabspeed Catbypass + Maxflo’s= 9 + 29=38lbs You save 22 lbs.
Fabspeed catbypass + Supercup’s= 9 + 12= 21lbs. You save 39 lbs.
Fabspeed Catbypass + Muffler Bypass= 10lbs. YOU SAVE 50 lbs!!!!!

Outstanding post! That's the most detailed and useful compilation of weights I've ever seen posted. Major kudos.

For sure, some of these configs can't be used on the street (too loud) so I've taken the liberty of identifying them.
Green = Ok for street. Red = No street, track only.

Inquiring minds would like to know once and for all. Did your only in-house welder not leave recently?

I don't understand why people are so interested in place of manufacture for exhaust parts. This question is always raised. Let's say they're made in China. So what? Perhaps somebody can explain 'cuz I must be missing something.

Quality control. If you fabricate in house, errors can be identified by yourself and adjustments made immediately. If you don't make things in house, problems get identified by your customers, then you need to call someone 13 hours difference in time zone to try to identify the problem.

Eclou I have no recollection of "our only in-house welder" leaving recently. Here's a few pictures of our fabrication team. We've been so busy lately that maybe you could come up to Philly and help out with the welding since "our only in-house welder left."
Billy and our team have over 100 years in combined welding, design, and manufacturing experience.

Lead fabricator Billy doing his best

So are you going to correct your website, as well? Because it still says:

993 Bischoff Catalytic Converter Bypass Pipes

* Saves over 45lbs 20KG from the rear of all 993 cars.

So you do or don't manufacture all of it in house?

Gotcha. I simply don't think it's relevant. Somebody in PA can make a mistake as easily as someone in China and how long it takes Fabspeed to work out a bug means nothing to us.

The more relevant question is: Does Fabspeed have decent quality control?

Cool Bust Joe Fab's stones?

Did your only in-house welder not leave recently? Made in China?

Lot's of us buy "cheap". If I can get a set of X for $500, made in the USA, or the same thing made in China for $250....I'll think long and hard about the deal for $250. As the dollar goes further in the toilet, lots more of are going to be thinking..."Buy Cheap"!

I have had several Fabspeed Products, very well crafted products. I had the Super Cup mufflers and the Cat Bypass pipes. WEnt back to the RSR mufflers to pass sound at Laguna Seca, went back to the stock cats to pass smog.
