Default 964 Vs 993 purchase

I am considering buying a 964 or 993. I am curious to hear from people who have owned both, pros and cons.
Thanks,
Phil

There have been many threads on this-you might want to do a search. Both are fantastic cars with separate +s and -s.

Seems like the guys that track their 964s are spending their time replacing 964 parts w/ 993 parts.
brakes, front uprights, struts, wheels, transmissions, exhaust etc.

If i'm not mistaken you already own an 964RS that already has most of the good stuff.

A US 993 isn't perfect either needing lots of upgrades to make a better track platform. Just seems to me that the 993 is a better place to start from, and looks better too

I have both. 993 is more advanced, faster, and has a better suspension design.

The 964 is more retro looking - gets more looks - more raw. Some say it requires more maintenance, but you don't get the CEL issues.

I like both of them and am lucky to have both. As they say, drive both of them and see what you like.

I already own a US Carrera Cup, it's my track toy. I looking for something that really is just a street car, I have even considered a 928. I appreciate the responces.

Phil,

The gang missed you and your bro at the F1 this year.
If I remember right you have owned about a bazillion Porsches but never a 993.
Time to get one.

Gerry,
Missed you guys as well, had a crazy busy summer. I don't about a bizillion but I have had a few. How do you like the TT, that's on my shopping list in the future.
Cheers,
Phil

I would consider getting a 964 Turbo or 964 Speedster or RS America...other than these three models I think the 993 is a better car.

Phil,

The TT is very cool. I must admit though that I really get the urge to take the 930 out now and then though, but I have'nt put plates on it in a while. It has officially become a garage queen... at least until I decide what to do with it.
A 964 with a 3.6T might be interesting.
