I am a huge fan of the Durametric scanner.... Just type in the brand name in search and plenty of threads will pop up. I use it mainly for my 996, but it does support 993s and 964s... Great product, though you do need a laptop.

Do either the Actron 9180, or the Innova 3130 allow you to check/monitor the air fuel compensation in the DME/computer to trouble shoot the codes related to MAF or O2 sensors failing?

I forget the actual data you monitor, but its been brought up a number of times as mandatory in order to diag whats going on when trouble shooting the MAF and O2s.

Their trying to get a group buy going on the Durametric scanner! IMHO, it's the best option for a 993, you can scan reset & read values, all very important, it also does airbags & ABS.

I don't want to step on any sponsor's toes, but I believe most of the mid to higher end scanner already do this. I have the 3140 and it's great!! But hey, I love our sponsors!

I bought one at Auto Zone for $39. It was a clearance item and they had more recently. It scans,reads and re-sets the code and the accompanying book tells you what the codes mean. Good luck. I still can't figure out why all 4 of my O2 sensors code.

That' a very generous offer, thank you. As a matter of fact I had decided to go with Equus but didn't know which one. Why did you pick the 3140 over the 3130?
There is a fair jump in price to go up to the 3140 but then it looks like it will do pre-OBDII cars also.

I ordered a Enthusiast kit today from Durametric because they offered me a returned unit with full warranty for $197.00. Thats a $50 savings.
Rob mentioned he had two more returned units for that price.

I'm a marketing man's dream. I saw your thread, went right to the Durametric sight, and bought the product.

I have a Fuel Relay fault code right now that a tech is telling me keeps my readiness codes from setting. I checked all the wiring and replaced the relay. Now I'm going to use this tool to clear the code and verify it doesn't come back. I don't want to keep paying $90 a pop to check codes.

And I'm going to work on a mechanical SAI solution for 993s. It will help if the SAI drive via the Durametric works out.

TIA if it works, it's all your fault if I don't like it.

Another app one might consider (less expensive) which has extensive OBDII
and mentioned by other Rennlisters prior to the addition of the Porsche
module:
