Default OT: (Rennlist 101 question) How do I post a link with custom text?

I looked around on the member help forums but could not find anything close. Previously, one could hit a button in the advanced section and copy and paste a link to a webpage, which would then allow you to insert your own custom text, instead of seeing the whole URL that you had copy and pasted. I can't seem to insert this custom text anymore. When I hit "Insert Link", a pop up window with the vBulletin "V" comes up. I paste the text in but do not have another box that allows me to insert custom text.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Thanks for any help.

You mean like this?

In the message editor, I clicked the "link" button (globe w/ a chain), entered the URL, it inserted into the message a set of URL tags like:

(URL="foo")text(/URL)

Of course, square brackets instead of parens. I just edited the 'text' part and voila!

You could probably also just type the tags directly.

Hope this works

Thanks, Dave! I got it. After your paste the URL into the pop up window and it shows up in the repaly box, part of the link is highlighted. This is the part that you can change to custom text. It's a change from the other system where two pop up boxes would appear, one for the URL and one for the custom text.

Thanks, again!

I am not sure why it was changed (or perhaps it was not choice on an upgrade) but I liked the older system better...its harder to select exactly between the brackets vs. just typing in a popup box. At least the feature still works!

Cheers,

Mike
