Unfortunate, but the damage is all on parts that won't depreciate the car, and it gives me some hope when I see people own up to their mistakes

I admire your perspective; I could never get myself to say "it's just a car".

Mark, sorry to hear/see about your incident. At least it seems to have turned out well with Scott's honesty. It appears to be a good time to do some bumper mods while she's in the shop.

Sorry to hear of this but the damage is definitely minor and fixable. So many would not have left a note....ask me how I know. You were lucky that the damage is minor and you are dealing with an honest person.
Best of luck,
chuck

Did it myself to a Vette about a week after I bought the F350. Being a 4X4 is was so much higher up than my previous GMC RWD. So I leave a note and never hear a thing. Couple of weeks later I get a call. He never found my business card under his wiper--the body shop guy found it!

If his insurance is picking up the tab for the cars, I'd give this "Scott" a 6 pack for his honesty. Or at least shake his hand.

Mark,

Sorry to have read about your incident. From your photographs the damage appears to be fairly superficial. As many others have already said, at least the person owned up to it and you have his insurance to go to in order to make things right. The explicatives that must have come from the guy over the sound of the cracking lens must have drawn enough attention, he couldn't have walked away Good luck on the repairs, as you have a great attitude about the whole thing.

... Just kidding. Good on you for taking it so well. It was an honest mistake, but it sounds like he will make good on it. I had a similar mis-hap this summer right in front of my eyes. It isn't easy to take, but it sounds like you are turning this in to an opportunity.

I don't know about the rear, but a euro turbo front bumper is almost the same price as a standard US...

My first thought would have been, "At least he missed the deck lid!". Everybody has their bumpers done at some point. And you'll have a new pretty rear reflector!
His momma raised him to be honest - there's still hope for the world.
