Default 930 vs 993... as collectibles

I may be buying a 1988 930 Turbo cabriolet... it's going to need some work, but I'm getting a decent price for it. I currently own a 1997 993 Narrow Body. I'm wondering the following;

Which of these 2 911's do you think will be more collectible in the future? Which of the two do you think would pay off to invest more resources on?

What were the respective production numbers? Lowest number is the most collectible

You wouldn't realize a gain from either one after all expenses. Best you can do is minimize the net loss. There's not enough information to be able to calculate the loss on either vehicle.

I think the better bet is the 930, too, but if you had said the 993 contender was a 1998 C2S in polar silver or some other classic color, I'm not sure the turbo 911 would get the nod.

All depends on miles. If you've got an '88 930 cab w/ 150K on it, we'll you've got a car w/ 150K on it no matter how pretty. There was a sorta ratty 90K miler a consigner was trying to unload up here for mid-high $20's a few months ago. Interior looked shot from just the thumbnails. Couple the likely deferred maintenance and just go find a nice $40+K lovingly cared for car. So if it IS one of the nice ones you're considering, go with what gives you the biggest kick.

And of course an '88 is the last of the 4 speeds (not that big of a deal), and mechanically actuated clutch (bigger deal, to me anyway).

On re-read, I guess it's not one of the nice ones!

The 88' turbo would be due to the much lower production #'s vs the 97' NB 993 of which there were quite a few more produced.....ZP44
