Red was not my 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice but I bought the car based on the condition, miles and it was local. After having the car for a year and a half the colour has won me over to the point that I'm no longer interested in a silver or black 993. Arena Red is a fantastic colour, it really shows off the curves of the car, it looks the best at dusk. When it is polished up it looks stunning. Woman love the colour, it does have a lipstick tone to it that I think they love. The first thing that most people say about my car is "I love the colour"
I'm sure that GR would grow on me the same way.

I'm fond of my GR 993. I did want a Polar Silver one though

Here's my '85 with semi-gloss black centered Fuchs. I still miss that car...
Kidding aside, I'm not sure about the durability of the guards red used on the 993, but the
durability of the guards red on the '85 speaks for itself. This car had the
original paint and won awards at PCA Concour events on the regional (NNJR)
and Zone (1) levels. The reason I'm not sure about the 993's paint durability
is because I was told by an independent Porsche repair specialist (body and mechanical)
that paint formulations were changed to be more friendly to the environment
and durability may have suffered.

Easy fix, get a car cover. I don't leave the 993 parked at the gym without putting the cover on. Takes under a minute.
