I know this has been covered alot on here but i have tow questions:
1. is there a permanent fix
2. since this problem is so common does Porsche have an official position on this
It is hard to imagine how they could have release a car with some an obvious problem after all the pre-production testing they do
thanks

There's a 996 part number that is essentially a foam-type stuffing that one sticks under the seal, between the windshield and body. I've seen it discussed on the 993TT forum numerous times, I'm shocked it hasn't made its way over here.

That oughta do it!

The solution to the 'creaking' front or rear ws is to install a double layer of foam #996-541-903-00 ($13.00) under the rubber trim. Lubricate it well with 3M Silicone Spray once a season. The silicone spray works much better than Pedros Ice Wax - which I love for my bike chains, BTW.
There is a service bulletin for the 996 on this matter. I can PDF a copy if anyone wants one. m.capocefalo@aainy.com

Just be aware....using Pedro's or any of the other silicon based solutions will mean to do a windshield replacement (which you'll "have" to do sometime) is MUCH more expensive. My experience was with the factory repair shop in Zuffenhausen, and they had to strip and repaint the window frame to achieve a proper seal and adherence of the adhesive. More than doubled the price for the work. Also, they used the latest Tech Bulletin solution, and the squeak is still there.....

Mike Cap is correct. All of the Turbo guys that have used this have had great success. My TT doesn't squeak, but the previous owner was certainly an enthusiast and I assume the foaming has been done.

Mine didn't squeak all summer, now that it's cold outside, it is squeaking.
I thought it went away but then I realized the last time I heard it was in Feb/March when it was colder outside.
Yesterday it was back now that the weather is cooler.

996.541.903 from the dealer is a tube, you have to squeeze into the crevis? It sounds like it could get messy.
Others have bought a foam or urithane cord and stuffed it in all alkong the rubber seal, wouldnt that be easier?
