How Long did Your Alternator/Battery Last?
I got a scare today after my car didn't start. Two red lights came on my speedometer and the motor wouldn't turn over. After waiting for a half hour, the car started up. The two lights remained on for about three blocks of driving. But I decided to call AAA for a flatbed just in case. While waiting for about an hour, I started the car again and the lights went out and I drove it home with no problems. Tomorrow morning I will use my multimeter to see if I have a constant charge, it will probably be OK for a little while. I have almost 140K miles on this car. Does anyone have experience with the charging system and how many miles did you get on your alt and batt?
Thanks,
Ken

As there doesnt appear to be a clear-cut trend, about a 100K is the point where most seem to fail. Batteries tend to last, or at least be healthy for 3-4 years.
Seems as though Porsches demand healthy batteries.

Thanks for everyone's comments.
Mark, what's the model # of your Odyssey batt? Looking at the following website, I couldn't see a battery for the years 95 - 97'. The closest one to a 95' started at 98; although I'd guess that will work.

I dont know how different they are to the 993 alternators, but on my old 3.2 it was almost dead on 100k for the first one and 200k miles for the second one
