Default Alignmnent......

The dealer is saying that a full alignment service is 3.5-4.0 hrs of work. Is this guy slow? Believe it or not but I don't think there are any high performance alignment shops in the area........

How many hours should this take?

If done properly yeah it can take that much time.

The machine is called a HUNTER (alignment) machine -- you should verify that they actually *have* such a machine - and that they're not blowing smoke up your ...

You should ALSO get a PRINTOUT of the alignment numbers that they arrived at. They'll serve as a basis for any future adjustments you might want/need.

RUF spends the time. I have seen them do it. My guess is that the alignment is a loss leader for them. They advertise that "special" pretty heavily.

Just had my car done - The alignment was very bad and ride height was very screwed up by PO's shop. took my mechanic a while to get it right. Charge was $320 (I think he ate a couple of hours), but it's EXACTLY right now. His system requires that the wheels come off the car so the wheel/tire assembly doesn't compromise the alignment.

3.5 - 4 hrs is not unreasonable (so long as you trust your mechanic).

Steve,

Try to PM Jeff (Intheair). He knows of a good independent in A2 that does 993 alignments.
