OT: difference between user and member?
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, and I've noticed that some people on the forum are "members" and others "users", I tried to do a search and only found out that you have to pay for membership. What are the benefits of it?

As a relatively new member myself, I can attest to what a great group of enthusiests surround you here at Rennlist. The wealth of knowledge is staggering and has helped me sleep at night on more than one occassion due to the thoughtful and thorough opinions/advice I have received. I viewed the membership a bargain to be a part of this group and to do my part in keeping a great thing going.

Being a paid member means you're helping support the site, the hosting costs, gaining access to members areas, members classifieds etc. In the end someone needs to pay for hosting and maintenance of the site, members fees help to aid with this... it's respectful of the people providing the service.

Membership allows you access to all of the site, & post items for sale. More importantly though it supports the site to keep it going. I think most will agree it's the best $$ you can spend other than the Pcar purchase itself.
You will also find that other members are far more helpful & tolerant to members than users.

Thanx for the information guys. Really cleared this up for me. That's pretty much what i thought but I wasn't sure. Just out of curiousity, do the owner's of the site make any money off of it?

From the membership page of this website-
".....you will gain access to the Member only forums! ...you can access the Member website, Upload photos, post classifieds, etc.. "
A lot more information is available and lots of horse trading goes on at the Members Only Classifieds. Being able to post pictures is invaluble in solving problems, where you can actually show everyone what you're describing.

The short answer is that, even if you never suspect you'll ever upload pictures, or sell something... trust me, the information you'll exchange here will be WELL worth the cost of several memberships as well as support the continuation of such an exchange. Do it because it's the right thing to do.

I bought my 14,000 mile garage queen from a fellow Rennlister on this site!
He actually did not even have it listed on the For sale forum yet.
He was "testing the water" on this forum and I contacted him immediatly after reading his post .
Besides that, the technical information shared is worth much more than the cost of becoming a member.

No ... JohnD runs the site and pours untold money and dollars into it, he works three jobs to help support this site. It is well worth the $17 or whatever it is, I would strongly urge you to support it as well. I can't even estimate how much money it has saved me over the years, and John even adjusted the idle stabilization valve himself on my 993 when I put a LWF in there and was having stalling issues.
