My 993 came with Speedline Aliseos, sizes 9 X 18 and 11 X 18 as shown in my avatar. I recently got a set of factory 996 Turbo wheels. When changing them I weighed the wheel/tire assemblies. The Speedlines were 10 lbs heaver in the front and 7.8 lbs heavier in the back with the same size tires on both sets.

Personally, I like the ride of the Turbo wheels much better, due to the reduction of unsprung weight, Not sure about the handling yet, as I haven't had much chance to try them in an Autocross.

With the risk of hijacking your thread (which I apologize up front), I wanted to let you guys know I have a complete set of 3.6 Speedlines with the script "Speedline for Porsche" in concours conditions with a set of P-zeros (about 90%). I getting ready to advertise in the classifieds. I bought from Porsche and maybe put a couple of hundred miles on them. I am selling my car, so I don't have a use for them anymore. I am asking $4,000 with them tires. If you are interested please email me direct. Clubrcr@comcast.net

Personally, I've never quite understood the draw to Speedlines. They're heavy, expensive and also so chunky that they would hide the beautiful rotors and big red brake calipers on my C4S. I went for MY '02 5-spoke lightweights instead, and much prefer them in every area. But, of course, I know many folks love these Speedlines. To each his/her own. Cheers!

A lot has to do with heritage. Speedline was the original OEM supplier for the Porsche RS. Of course, in the decades since, technology and fashion might have passed them by.

Same could be said for the original 911s and 356s. They certainly are not the best performing sports car today.

I love the looks of them, and have considered a set, but I somehow associate them with the targa and can't help but feel they are a little out of place on the C2S.

In trying to keep my car as close to stock as possible (i.e. as originally ordered from the factory, suspenion excluded, of course), I've stayed with the '17 inch cup wheels. That said, when the time comes for new tires, I'll probably consider changing the rims to the '18 turbo look (which were a factory option) or speedlines (because I like the looks).

Yes, the lighter, more open wheels are better for track use

But Speedlines are great for street use
Speedline for Porsche

and the aftermarket Speedlines are great too
these are for sale
