Don't getme wrong; as a racer, I love Porsches more than most and, for the past 32 years, longer than most; however, the CGT is just too damn disco to me and is better suited to spar with the Lamborghini Gallardo than the Ford GT.
it's a FORD!

Many enthusiasts would say that the Capri was Ford's 911. Ever heard of Zakspeed?

I am doing one of those high dollar multi-marque track days myself next Monday at NHIS. I look forward to seeing how my 993 stacks up. I am also looking forward to seeing some really nice cars actually being used as they were intended.

If we're talking REAL GT, then it'd be
993GT2 = Ford GT40 > CGT > F430 > FGT.
The GT40 is amazing. The GT uses the same keyfob as a taurus...

Sure! And if you squint really hard at the photo below, you can see the vestiges of a 911 SC in the 935 K3 that raced with the Capris.

Yeah. I owned a 2.8i Capri in the UK back in the 90's and it was fun. Not as much fun as the highly tuned Escort RS Turbo (200 bhp) I traded it for. However, the build quality of these cars really left a lot to be desired. They are FORD built and you just can't get better than a German built car IMHO.

Have another beer, keep on changing the rules and I'm sure you'll win.
Good night.

BTW-All the 911's went out in a seperate session from the exotic cars, so I was out with Carrera S' and the GT3's. I was very surprised by how well the old 993 more than kept up, I was only passed by one Carrera S until my fan belt went and I had to retire for the day. I'm running M030 with BilsteinHD's and new Bridgestone rubber. These cars can run with the new stuff, just check your belts first!

In no particular order:
Any of you guys driven a Ford GT in anger? My cousin has one and it is a huge, wallowing, pig. And I fried the brakes in four laps. Wasn't even worth using 2nd gear (Thunderhill).
Zakspeed Mustangs/Capris. Wow. This was when I went to my first pro race @ Sears. Klaus Ludwig and Rick Mears in these teeny, tiny 4-cyl Kent pushrod (think formula ford) engined "things". Not that a 935K3 with Ongais/Haywood/Fitzpatrick/Rahal/etc weren't more exotic. Ludwig won the race (http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-26-photo.html for some photos taken by our own Van Zannis.....who now owns one of the IROC cars, I believe).
Love the exotics, but whenever they are out it seems our pedestrian cars measure up quite well.
