Track day with $$ cars plus a 993
This past Sunday I was invited to join a private track day for some very special cars and owners. The all-day session included
Two Carrera GT's
Four Ford GT's
One Ferrari F430 Spyder
One Aston Martin DB9
Two 997 GT3's
Two 997 Carrera S'
One 996 Turbo
One 997 Carrera Cab
and my old 993.
It was lots of fun and the 993 kept up very well with the 997's, it was surprising, or maybe driver ability!!
Here are a few shots

Not to detract from your abilities, I found that the "faster" the car's capabilities, the slower the driver! Can't tell you how many GT3's I passed over the last 2 w/e's (track w/e's) and my 4S is a big heavy pig!

Heresy = WOT. You beat me to it Mark. I think the GT is an amazingly faithful re-make of the original. Absolutely stunning in person.

LOL. At least the Ford GT doesn't look an Escort on steroids!

I absolutly love that Ford GT, always have. In my opinion it is the most beautiful car design ever produced...and, like our classic 993's it still looks awsome 40 years later!

Uhhh, how 'bout 41 years later?

The Carrera GT could slurp down 20 gallons of CIA-concocted blotter acid and never dream of of being half the car the GT40 is. We'll not even touch upon the fact that the GT40 has a true racing history, while the CGT, as fine of a perfomer as it is, well . . . it's been the national DE champion for the past four years. Don't getme wrong; as a racer, I love Porsches more than most and, for the past 32 years, longer than most; however, the CGT is just too damn disco to me and is better suited to spar with the Lamborghini Gallardo than the Ford GT.
That all said, the McLaren F1 trumps both the GT40, Ford GT and CGT . . .but the first two not by much. IMO.
