Can the H1 bulb be used as a low and high beam?

The stock headlight buckets have two H1's per side, one high, one low.

i just went through this...........

i put the piaa extreme white H3 35/110W in the fogs and they match the litronic headlgihts nicely. now i must replace the the parkin light bulbs next to the fogs for a better match. either the philips blue vision PBVT4W or the OSRAM Cool Blue 3893CB. having a tough time finding them in the U.S. If anyone knows where to get them it would be appreciated,

I bought piaa exteme white 1156(P21W) and 11571 (P21/5W) for the turn signals and stop lights but they were actually dimmer than the stocks so i took them out. I did use the 1156 in the backup lights and they look cool and actually give a lot more light to see behind. I also put the piaa T6 bulbs in the license plate lights and the interior lights. not an exact fit, had to play with the clips in both light fixtures but def doable.......

I replaced the side lights with an OSRAM bulb from:
https://www.autohausaz.com/search/pr...&gid=3555@Bulb
the bulb is much brighter/whiter than standard incandescent, but its still yellow compared to HID.

Went looking for the new Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Halogens but it looks like they are not available in H1 yet so interested to hear more on this. Some of the PIAA bulbs I've seen have not impressed me. I noticed on the aceparts site they offer the 100 watt H1, will our harness and relay take that much draw?

I had the 100w H1 and noticed some slight heat damage to the bulb wiring and the pot metal holder when I took them out. Plus, they really didn't do much more for light than the stock 55w bulbs.

The hot ticket is the xenon conversion. Night and day difference - literally.

Still need to match the running lights though so I'll have to check out the PIAAs.

Default LED driving lights

This is what the LEDs from Ace (no affiliation) look like with 4300 K HIDs.

That's not bad...I was thinking of ordering a set myself. How long did it take to get from the UK?

Reuben, What LED's are those again, I have the 6k HID kit and they seem like it would be a perfect fit.
Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Reuben, how you been buddy?

Your result is actually way better than I thought it would be.. How effective are those LED's compared to the stock foglights? Is the bulb like a simple replacement or is there any modding involved?

I have the HID conversion but this is only for the low beam, high beam is still pretty weak so want to find the brightest H1s at the 55 watt level.

I have the Osram Sylvania H1s. Supposedly very good. Still suck.

Viggo: Hejsa - have you found a new 993? The bulbs are plug-and-play, though you have to check the fitting to make sure that you order the right ones. They are for the driving lights, not fog lights.

Harlan: The bulbs are bayonet fit LEDs from Ace in the UK. They took about a week to arrive, and cost $27.22 for two.

Patrick: Here's the link http://www.aceparts.com/all-led-bulb...e-light-bulbs/

Do remember to specify that your car is a US model - apparently, the owner/manager of Ace Parts is a 993 guy.

Next project is to replace the yellowish fog-light bulbs.

Those look perfect. Nice find Reuben !

I upgraded with a BMW bulb for the driving light and although brighter than stock, they're still off color comparative to the HIDs in the headlights. These seem to match up nicely.

Convert high beam to HID as well - don't let anyone tell you it can't be done!
