'97 C4S Newbie... few questions....
The Car: 1997 Red C4S, Full Aero Package and Sport Seats. 25k miles. Probably paid a little too much, but car is in great shape.
Ok now my questions:
I have read the owners manual but would like some input from actual owners;
Which gauges should I actively watch and keep an eye on at all times. Driving around today and keeping an eye on them I noticed that they really dance around a lot.
Also how do I check the oil level, how do you goes go about that?
Last question:
My RPM bezel that is attached to the clear lense covering the gauge is not completely attached to the rubber gasket surrounding it. Its lifted up slightly about 40% and is not flush to the dash, its almost like I can pull off the ring and lense off together, any idea how to fix this?
Thanks A lot.

Greetings/Welcome. (1) RPM and oil pressure. (2) search is your friend (3) become a member. You would then have seen that you can only check oil with the engine hot and on a perfectly level surface. That checking the oil with a dipstick is iffy and requires three or four tries. That the oil level gauge is only good after the car has idled hot for 30 seconds on a level surface. That the reason that Porsche put the tach in the center and made it bigger than the rest of the gauges is that it is the most important one.
Your car sounds great! enjoy it.

Race4s,
Quickly post a picture of the car before the thread fills up with "This thread is useless w/o pictures" comments! (Just a hint from a fellow newbie...)
But nothing....just keep the car forever and it won't matter!!!
Good info is plentiful:

Check your oil only with the car warm, idling on flat ground. The dipstick is hard to read, you may have to check it a few times to double check its oil level.
oil pressure, temp and Revs are the three important guages to watch while moving.

The bezel that I am speaking of is actually the OEM gauge ring that the clear lense that covers the tach is attached to. I know for certain its not an aftermarket piece.
Its hanging off a bit, raised off from the rubber surround, how do I fix?

Congrats on your purchase -- pics would be great! If you like the car, and its in great shape, paying a little too much isnt that bad, that is unless the previous owners calls to ask for the wheels back..

Protecting the dash with a credit card ( active balance unimportant ), a putty knife can be used to prise the gauge out for your inspection and repair .... or correct reseating.
You could not do better that having chosen a C4S ... all bias aside

Garth S, Thanks for the response, that was exactly the problem I was having.
I am looking forward to fixing it via your solution over the weekend.
Will be posting pictures up soon to follow.
