PCNZ Classic Car Collection Run
Hi all,
A few pics from the Auckland area Porsche Club Of New Zealand run to visit a private classic car collection this morning. Plenty of Porsches, a De Tomaso Pantera and the odd family stationwagon met up for a spirited drive through the countryside to the seaside township of Beachlands. There, amongst the houses was an innocuous looking shed, but inside was an interesting collection of rare and famous cars. Amongst them, the 1959 Cooper T51 driven to the World Championship by Jack Brabham, and the car in which Bruce McLaren won his first GP race at Sebring. Also the 1969 British Touring Car Championship winning Mini Cooper, NZ legend Jim Richard's JPS BMW 635 Touring Car, and the Tony Longhurst/Alan Jones Bathurst lap record holding Group A Sierra Cosworth ( 228 mph on Conrod Straight, with 800 plus hp) On a more sedate note, an immaculate 1928 Auburn Custom, which competed in the 1992 Interstate Batteries Great American Race from Charleston to Costa Mesa. Various other cars were Lotus F2, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar and even an Offy engined midget sprint car.
It never ceases to amaze me what treasures people have hidden away, and also their generosity in sharing their passion with fellow enthusiasts.

Looks like you had a great run Tania.
That looks like my old 965 Turbo (white) in one of those shots? Owned by an Asian Doctor. Can't remember his name?
Your 993 is stunning in yellow too. I miss my old 993

Thanks for that. That would be Albert Ko......immaculate car, done about 20 000km?
Was a good day....shame it rained on and off, but that didn't detract from it too much.
Where are you in Kapiti? My folks are on the hill behind Waikanae.
Cheers

That's him. I sold him the car with around 13km's on the clock if IIRC. I brought it with 3K on the clock. Was an Ex Brunei car.
I live in Manakau which is about 15-20 minutes North of Waikanae. I used to live in Waikanae tho for about 5 years.
Regards. James.

Thanks Tania for the pics, especially the Cooper. What an elegant piece of machinery for the time.

No it wasn't his. It was however, the car that Jack Brabham lapped the Taupo circuit in during the A1GP in January.
Cheers
