Default swopped plug wires..no difference?

hi
my car had a rough idle when i bought it. idles @ 800 with ac on.
i did the isv clean and also cleaned the maf.
this made a small difference.
just done 30k service with new plugs. i had a problem in getting no3 plug wire onto the top plug...feels like it clicks in but the rubber boot sticks out a bit.
with the car running when i pull it off and it makes no difference with idle. i eventually got it in with the boot now flush with valve cover.
i am now in process of changing out the dist. caps and rotors and while i wait for them i decided to get the old ones off
got that done and in the process had to pull off 2 plug wires on the primary cap.
i have checked the firing order and i think it is correct but with car idling i can swop the 2 wires around and makes very little difference in idle....is this normal. (97 with 29k)
thanks

Are the two wires in question on the 2nd distributor, and is it perhaps not turning due to a broken belt?

All sounds pretty normal to me. Don't forget, you have the other set firing that cylinder and at idle not that much changes when you remove one spark plug connector. Some of the 993's just seem to idle a little rough. If you are not getting any misfire codes, I would disregard this.

I agree. I have also seen if you remove a plug wire no much seems to happen to the idle. There are lots of things happening in the engine so one plug off seems to do much. Try taking both the top and bottom plugs out on a single cylinder...I can hear that!

I am not sure why some 993's idle rough...mine did before the rebuild and its much better now but it still is a bit rough.

Cheers,

Mike

Run it in the dark and look for blue sparks. My coils were dirty and were arcing.
